Cutter and Pryce Ramble (SPOILERS AHEAD)
One thing I find absolutely fascinating is the bond between Dr. Pryce and Mr. Cutter.
Cutter found a troubled girl, and made her believe that he can fix all of her problems through various manipulation tactics, including traumabonding... and somehow convinced himself that this is what a friendship is. That they are friends.
Following that, the DSSPPM “On Survival” essay excerpt “Values Are Relative” reveals that Cutter (as Carter) later feels inferior to a woman he considers himself close with... And I feel that it's partially because Cutter is unable to be vulnerable with Pryce. This is shown in Episode 60 -- Terms and Conditions. Cutter (in his own way) cares about Pryce because he's very clearly afraid of her getting hurt or killed in this episode... But Pryce? She's completely secure in believing that Cutter will fix everything again because he always does. I think there's a sort of resentment there... which is interesting because from what we know, Cutter should really be more of a father figure. But again, he seems to see Pryce as more of a very close friend.
Pryce's reliance on Cutter was also discussed in one of the paywalled AMAs. It was said (paraphrasing) that Pryce would have a lot more trouble surviving without Cutter than Cutter would without Pryce, and, well... It's because he clearly never gave her the opportunity to survive on her own. As I said earlier, he's always been there to “fix” everything.
It's ironic that Cutter manipulated Pryce to feel so reliant on him that he's cornered himself into being unable to be vulnerable himself. In that regard, the (almost) impenetrable nature of his skin as demonstrated by the bullets in Brave New World... only for him to finally meet his demise when he lets his guard down, is poetic.
(also, I would be very interested to learn about Cutter's father, since he cites him as an inspiration in Volte Face.)

On the left side of the page, there’s a bust shot of cutter engulfed in a spotlight reminiscent of a gun crosshair. He’s holding a bullet and giving a shining, dead smile as more bullets fall around him.
In the middle of the page, Cutter lays upside down while sensually answering a phone call. He’s wrapped in wires and a halo of security cameras surround his legs, as if reaching down towards him. He’s posed against a starry background of deep space which notably contains a blue and red star and also a space ship.
On the right side of the page, Cutter holds a smoking cigarette in one hand and a cup of chai in the other, while various hands offer him telephones. His expression is mostly in shadow, but there’s still a dead smile visible on his face.
In the corner of the page, there’s a small chibi of cutter sitting in a cup of chai. End ID]
Oh my gosh, this is beautiful... Marcus Cutter, my favourite...
Oh what do you mean,,, (this is my commission) AHH LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL HE LOOKS RAHGHHHHH
I knew it was you!

what does the h stand for
I’m rather partial to Marcus Harcus Cutter.
Alright, let's talk theories -- because I have a couple.
For those who don't know, in the buyable copy of the DSSPPM, Cutter has a preface. At the end of it, we find out that his middle name begins with “H”.
I have exactly two theories on what the “H” could stand for.
1. Hutchings
The “H” could be a nod to Richard H. Goddard, the father of modern rocket propulsion (and presumably who Goddard Futuristics is named after within the show).
Gabriel Urbina has put references to other important historical figures in the names of various characters in the show. It isn't a reach to guess that Cutter's middle name might also be a reference... especially considering how Cutter clearly cares a lot about keeping his job at Goddard Futuristics, based on the actions he took.
2. Huxley
What is the finale of the show called?
What is that name potentially referencing in sci-fi literature?
I rest my case.
By the way, has anyone ever talked about how his birth name is Matthew Newman? New. Man. That's hilarious. He becomes a new man. Great pun.
(also... both “Hutchings” and “Huxley” are uncommon enough for Cutter to pick either; he seems to really like uncommon names.)
Ties that bind
Oh my gosh, I love these colours! And your style is just so... Wow.
si-5 slop
This style is so satisfying to look at...
The real wolf baddiesss
The evil dream team...
I love these designs for them! Rachel and Cutter in matching red ties... Pryce with the more monochrome colour-scheme... they look just as intimidating as they sound in the show!
I love the square shape language on Cutter here especially. It gives him an aura of intimidation -- you wouldn't want to mess with this guy! The blonde hair is also very nice on him.
Thank you to the liveshow for allowing me to live with the “Captain her-entire-previous-crew-died Lovelace is the touchiest out of all of the Hephaestus crew and the one crew member she can’t touch is the one she has the most miscommunication with” headcanon. Which could mean nothing.
Oh.

Miranda Pryce. Enchanté~ (Companion piece to Cutter.)
Can't have Pryce without Cutter! For this one... I love how Pryce is striking a conductor sort of pose -- reminds me a little of “The Tempest” by Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and how that overture is important to Pryce and Cutter (I hope to make a post on that soon)... Also, the details are so phenomenal: the longer I look, the more I notice.
Never fully dressed without a smile!
Such a fantastic design! I really love the sharpness of the lines, showing he's dangerous. I also like the slight fish-eye lens distortion, and the low angle perspective... combined with the shadows, it adds to the unsettling energy Cutter radiates.
Dougie-boy...
...and some Hephaestus Crew chibis.
