Meet Serenity “Sugar” Mason.

A detail-oriented lab tech who keeps the morgue steady.

Practical and steady. She's the only one who knows what really happens to him.

She doesn’t have all the answers, but she’s determined to help him find them.

In the middle of the page, Cutter lays upside down while sensually answering a phone call. He’s wrapped in wires and a halo of security cameras surround his legs, as if reaching down towards him. He’s posed against a starry background of deep space which notably contains a blue and red star and also a space ship.

On the right side of the page, Cutter holds a smoking cigarette in one hand and a cup of chai in the other, while various hands offer him telephones. His expression is mostly in shadow, but there’s still a dead smile visible on his face.

Meet Abel James Carter.

A medical examiner new to New Orleans — meticulous, curious, and maybe a little too familiar with death.

That is because of course, for Abel, Death is Temporary.

He’s searching for answers in the bodies he studies, and in his own impossible resurrection.

For those who don't know, in the buyable copy of the DSSPPM, Cutter has a preface. At the end of it, we find out that his middle name begins with “H”.

I have exactly two theories on what the “H” could stand for.

1. Hutchings

The “H” could be a nod to Richard H. Goddard, the father of modern rocket propulsion (and presumably who Goddard Futuristics is named after within the show).

Gabriel Urbina has put references to other important historical figures in the names of various characters in the show. It isn't a reach to guess that Cutter's middle name might also be a reference... especially considering how Cutter clearly cares a lot about keeping his job at Goddard Futuristics, based on the actions he took.

2. Huxley

What is the finale of the show called?

What is that name potentially referencing in sci-fi literature?

I rest my case.

By the way, has anyone ever talked about how his birth name is Matthew Newman? New. Man. That's hilarious. He becomes a new man. Great pun.
