When I finished this scarf two years ago I made a mistake and knit it one pattern repeat shorter than it should have been.
Finally decided to add that missing repeat and just make the scarf longer. I had an extra ball of yarn anyway.
I cut one stitch in the middle of a row and unpicked it both ways, knit on two repeats and grafted it back together. Then I found out I'd remembered the pattern wrong and had knit all sections with 7 DR, instead of 7 DR on the long bits and 5 DR on the short bits. Had to ungraft, rip back, reknit and regraft the scarf and finally knit the two new insertions.
Now I can wrap the scarf around once!
I showed this scarf to someone and she asked me to make her one. I agreed to do it for an amount of money that turned out to be a mistake, as I actually logged how long it took me to do, which was about 45 hours. In exchange I asked her to not tell anyone how much she paid for this. She also asked for a matching hat, which I hopefully will price correctly this time.
This is Cotton Candy at Midnight II, which I forgot to include the improvements I thought of when making the first one, but at least I didn't have to graft on some repeats in the middle.
silliest thing about my body is that I regularly experience precordial catch syndrome, which is basically the medical term for an extremely painful "twinge" in your chest cartilage that's not medically significant & which we can't really explain.
anyway, mine falls in the extreme in that the "twinges" can last several minutes and they range anywhere from "agh, minor inconvenience, I just need to sit still for a moment" to "this is the worst pain I've ever experienced in my entire life, the ethical thing to do now would be to shoot me."
the problem is, when it's the latter, I literally look deranged. the "catch" comes on so fast, mid-breath, I gasp in sudden agony, clutch my chest, and seethe in agony as I struggle for as much oxygen allowed in the shallowest breaths possible. sometimes it's so bad I end up on my knees or even lying on the floor, basically writhing in pain, clenching my teeth like I'm turning into a werewolf or something. and of course people are terrified. they're asking what's wrong, but I can't talk. They're asking if they should call 911, and I'm just shaking my head and holding up a "just a minute" finger and also groaning in anguish,
and then the silliest part of all is that the minute it ends, there's no residual pain. not even the ghost of it. it's gone as suddenly as it came and I catch my breath and I say, "WELL! Anyway," and I immediately try to get back to the conversation but nobody's ever quite receptive to that for SOME reason
it's like this
THATāS NOT A NORMAL THING???!?!?!
so I reblogged this a while ago because I seem to have a similar thing happening in my butt, and I recently learned there's an actual medical term for it -

why are there so many posts about asexuals being immune to sirens. people. sirens donāt lure you in with sex (necessarily). they sing about whatever it is that you want most. they could sing about mothman or cinnamon toast crunch and guess what then your asexual pirate is fucking dead
this is the only kind of ace discourse i ever want to see on my dash. the only kind. ever again. good job
Do you think the sirens would be grateful that they finally get some variety?Ā
āOh my god we can finally just sing about pasta thank the fucking gods.āĀ
Iām not asexual but Iām fairly certain sirens would do a far better job luring me into the depths with a song about pasta rather than sexā¦
I mean.Ā
āWHAT THE FUCK STAY AWAY FROM THE ROCKS.ā
āFUCKER THEY SAID THEY HAVE FETTUCCINE CARBONARA AND HOT GARLIC BREAD OVER THERE HANG ON BITCH.āĀ
This is true; Odysseus heard them promising him knowledge of the future. Ā So the next time you see artwork like this:
Remember those sultry naked chicks are sayingĀ āWeāll tell you the winning lotto numbers.ā
Them: āWe have unlimited wifi at incredible speeds~ā Me: *diving headfirst into the water*
This post is a blessing

Oh my god sirens were literally scam websites
Oh my god they were phishing
Why do you stay?
hi, a lot of you need a perspective reset
the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years
taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult
at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)
'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65
it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age
it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.
you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.
young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!
there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big
I'm 45 now and am going back to college in September to change careers. I was a graphic designer for 12 years and was laid off at the beginning of 2025. I spent the next year applying for jobs and getting nowhere so I said F that and I'm going learn to do something that's a more AI proof.
But I also spent that year doing taiko drumming, learning the erhu (Chinese two-string violin), playing in an orchestra, getting back into acrylic painting, and working on knitting projects. I think I've got a pretty good life even if I'm still renting with a roommate and living off my savings. What does it even mean to be middle aged?
Lace's head shape reminded me of Nigerian headdresses so I tried to draw her as such

Decided to add embroidery after doing half the quilting.
That is the wrong order to do that in. Just as an FYI
Got a tad sloppy and went full MacGyver to display it (is that a chopstick and a mop handle? Donāt worry about it)
Still want to add fringe to the bottom. But donāt have any at the moment and donāt have time so leaving it unfinished
(Block pattern designed by Taralee Quiltery, free via her instagram)
I happened to walk through the Garment District with a few thousand New Yorkers. Made a pit stop.
whoops
#when you set out for revenge dig two graves#unless youāre hamlet#in which case youāre going to want to rent a backhoe (x) YOUāRE NOT LEAVING THAT IN THE TAGS BUDDY
Iām not Christian, I donāt go to church anymore, and my pastor died, but when he was alive Iād sometimes go to his sermons and I remember one time he said āit feels good to hate, but we know that it isnāt allowed, so when weāre told that weāre allowed to hate someone we get so excited that we forget weāre supposed to loveā, and if my humble atheist ass might borrow some church talk Iād like to perhaps submit that
Anyhow sometimes on the day to day I feel disgust or revulsion and I have to ask myself āis this a danger to anyone at all or am I just looking for something Iām allowed to hateā and a solid 98/100 times itās the latter so once again thank you pastor D
Some more sweet bangers from Pastor D
Following the rules of the church are less important than following the attitudes Jesus exemplified [in a debate about if it would be okay to break traditional rules and give the leftover loaf of communion bread to a hungry and poor attendee]
Donāt get so caught up in observing ceremonies and following traditions that you forget why they started to begin with
The words you use arenāt as important as what you mean when you use them [new kid was somehow wildly confused about his name and started respectfully calling him Batman]
You might like the teaching story that I heard often from my dad -
Two monks from a strict order that prohibits even *looking* at a woman are on a pilgrimage
Along the way they have to cross a small river
A woman is also trying to cross but is clearly struggling to find a safe place to wade in
One monk decides to help and carries her through the water and sets her down on the other side where she goes off on her own to wherever it is she's going
After a while walking in grumpy silence the second monk breaks and starts berating the first for breaking his vows! And so casually! The first monk says "I picked her up, I put her down, *you* are still carrying her.
My dad liked the idea that the rule exists to teach you something - and if you learn it, you don't need the rule - and if you don't learn it, the rule is doing you no good
I like this one!
My cats finally accepting their roles as my minions

This is the best description Iāve heard for this method, I always thought it was bullshit because I never heard a description that actually explained how to do this other than ātap your head 20 timesā.
I have anxiety-induced hissing, which sounds/feels different from sound-induced tinnitus (which I have also experience). Sound-based tinnitus actually sounds like youāre āhearingā something in your ears, whilst the hissing I have feels like itās āinside my headā, if that makes sense. But this technique still helps!!
Hereās a visual I found because I couldnāt understand the instructions well
My ringing just went away for the first time in years. What is this blissful quiet.
wait wait i gotta try this, i donāt think iāve had Actual Silence since i was like 5
HOW THE FUCK
Reblogging to save a life, and also because, even if you donāt have tinnitus, this is totally worth trying if you like new sensory experiences.Ā Ā
