i think a lot of people make the mistake of assuming their personality, morals, likes and dislikes and a great number of other things about them are static and unchanging when this is in fact not the case.

you will change whether you want to or not. your taste in fashion and in food will change. your hobbies and skills may change. your morals will bend and flex and change to suit all the new perspectives and information you gain about this and that. you will make changes for your survival. you will make changes for comfort and safety. you will make changes because life moves and breathes around you. you will change because everyone around you will change and the tides will affect you in some way regardless of circumstance. you will take in little pieces of everyone you have ever known or known of. you will cut off and share little pieces of yourself with every person you interact with.

you are a patchwork of everyone you’ve ever known, every experience you’ve ever been through and every thought you’ve ever had. the world will move and you will move with it. it’s all just a game of swapping out and changing parts, trading scraps of fabric in and out as it suits you, dying bits and pieces new colours, and stitching yourself into something you like more than what you were.

don’t go throwing those little bits and pieces into the mud before you figure out where they might fit on you.
