I donno, maybe accepting that people in the past had different ideas about beauty and modesty and different styles and body types they found attractive is a low stakes way to become more accepting of the fact that different cultures have different ideas about beauty or something and that might be a good reason to just show the ridiculous hairstyles and silhouettes so we can stop being so self-centred and sure that there is only one way to be beautiful?

absolutely insane to see people talking about how europeans will "hate people from the village over for being different from them" when what they're actually talking about is like. the english colonising ireland. or the french government psychologically torturing children into learning french. or the soviets starving three to five million ukrainians to death. when people say europe has racisms you can't even imagine they make it sound like petty squabbling between sovereign nations when what it actually is is invading poland for the billionth time (and massacring all the inhabitants, obviously) and telling children "it is forbidden to speak breton or shit on the ground". colonialism has destroyed countless cultures and threatened countless languages and that horrific loss very much exists within europe as well.
