shitty MS Paint 3 minutes doodle, nto entirely accurate: When you have your pinky hooked on the “bottom” edge of the phone for the extra security so it doesn’t slide out of your hand that easily, you’re wreaking damage on your hand, since the pinky is extremely askew from it’s resting position. You might have noticed that when you hold your phone like that for long time it begins to hurt, like when you are gripping a pen too tightly for example.
Green lines - the fingers are going their natural way. Red line - the pinky is way off, that’s bad.

This a a reminder to not fall victim to the sunk-cost fallacy. Just because you invested time and energy into something, does not mean you should indefinitely waste more time and energy on it, if you decide it’s not what you want anymore. This goes for anything, from books, to relationships, to jobs, to hobbies, etc.
If it’s not serving you anymore, move on.
This is honestly one of the places I find Marie Kondo's advice most helpful. I stop, look at the thing I've spent time and money on only to realize I dislike, and I say, "Thank you for teaching me something about myself and my preferences. I think I've learned this particular lesson and we can part ways now."
And then I don't feel like I "wasted" things or made a mistake. I just tried one path of learning about myself, learned something, and now it's time for a different path. Works a lot better for my brain.
The time Marie Kondo said "you can thank a a shirt you've never worn for teaching you about your taste", thereby making it NOT A WASTE literally rewired my whole brain. Acknowledge the thing and move forward, even if that means leaving the thing behind.
Actually learning about Van Gogh rn and one of the important points of the new things he does during that time is painting as he experiences it, instead of realistic. He can do perspective, he just painted stuff like he saw it, so “wrong”

I managed to make it through my recent root canal by fixating on the PURE RAGE I felt at the HGTV show playing in the corner. They walk into this living room/kitchen, and the living room had these two lovely little stained glass windows. And I thought, huh! They need to open up the space, enlarge the windows to let in more light, slap a little color on the walls or maybe a nice detailed wallpaper-
THEY GOT RID OF THE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS.
I couldn’t believe it. They got rid. of the Stained. Glass. Windows.
WHY
Everything was that same basic boring white and black and grey with a single ivy plant to desperately try to make the rooms feel alive. And they removed the one thing which had given the space personality.
As I lay back, drill buzzing away, I thought of wallpaper and stained glass and seethed.
