"of course the characters in persona 4 are homophobic, it's about teenagers in 2008" has always been funny to me as a defense, cause it's framing persona 4 as like a period piece, rather the fact that persona 4 came out in 2008 and the developers themselves are y'know. homophobic.
like i don't expect the investigation team to stand around in a pronoun circle or whatever, but i also think it's silly to act like yosuke being creeped by kanji's sexuality is supposed to be a flaw or neutral character trait, rather than the dev's own disgust against gay men, but if yosuke gay route is real in revival, than i guess i'll owe atlus 5 dollars.
