Back to basics
Playing around a bit just to confirm that I sadly hate working with perle cotton, and don't really like my midland bobbins. I think I might like the midlands better on a round top pillow. I find them really hard to handle being so thin and light. I think if they were hanging off it would be a bit easier like with the Honiton bobbins

i think the last three weeks was the longest i've gone without making lace since i started two years ago š„²
i finally worked on my honiton piece for a while today. its getting much closer to being done. which is good. i've been working on it since october I think? ready for something new. i want to learn rolls next
i am also almost ready to start on my big piece!! i have like 20 more pairs to wind still. I decided I'm going to weld the frame for it since i can't find something in the right size. so i hope to do that in the next two weeks and then spray paint it gold :):) then i can attach the bobbins and finally start making the lace i've been planning since january lol
i'd love to finish a tatting project at some point too. i really struggle to finish them because i find myself getting bored easily at the later rounds. hoping to get better at that

Iām still very slowly but steadily working through sampler after sampler with pleasing results. Also frustrating just bc I have so little time and so much fatigue.
This is one sampler from about 6 weeks ago that I think is particularly pretty, and a nice break from regular fans and footsides. There are some tensions issues; iām working on that.

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
this also goes for aesthetic or -core titles. 'y2k tank top' is going to get you resellers and fast fashion brands advertising to people looking to meet a current trend. 'thin strap crop tank top' is going to get you a diverse group of results and not upcharge you to hell and back
additionally, shop second hand when you can, second hand and thrift sites typically organize clothes by the cut and color. theyll be more affordable than a depop seller curating you a style to sell you

Damn, that's useful
Finally a hand sewing tutorial on a hemline that isn't just the ladder stitch! the ladder stitch disappears when you tighten it, but it's not meant for hemlines because it breaks really easily! The overlock stitch is more stable, so it holds much longer, and it won't pucker or warp the fabric!
Yay I did it! Now I will sew all these together while I think about borders š¤
