Back to basics

Playing around a bit just to confirm that I sadly hate working with perle cotton, and don't really like my midland bobbins. I think I might like the midlands better on a round top pillow. I find them really hard to handle being so thin and light. I think if they were hanging off it would be a bit easier like with the Honiton bobbins

#my teacher said midlands need a slight curve to the pillow #a traditional cookie #whereas contintentals like binche and flanders bobbins work well on a pillow that is completely flat #since the bulb makes them easy to pick up but they roll easy #so this is just to say that yeah your bobbin pillow combo matters #perle is also pretty thick for standard bobbins #i always use chunky ones with heavier spangle for gimps #your colour combo looks cool here though

I’m still very slowly but steadily working through sampler after sampler with pleasing results. Also frustrating just bc I have so little time and so much fatigue.

This is one sampler from about 6 weeks ago that I think is particularly pretty, and a nice break from regular fans and footsides. There are some tensions issues; i’m working on that.

Doing a bucks edging sample to practice kat stitch before doing Paris. Somehow, remembering to do half stitch not cloth stitch for the pearls is the hardest.
