Vampirella is a crazy comic for how much different very significant people in comic history are involved with her creation and her stories versus how little acknowledge she gets outside of the immediate circle of die-hard fans. Billy Graham, one of the early black comic book creators and one of the creators of Luke Cage, got his start in Vampirella with Warren Publishing. Gardener Fox, creator of multiple significant DC characters such as the Flash, Barbara Gordon, Hawkman, Zatanna and more is credited for a story in the issue I'm reading right now. Steve Englehart, an incredibly prolific comic creator got his start in Vampirella as well. That's just scratching the surface but many famous and influential comic artists got their start or broke into the industry with Vampirella. This comic has such a role to play in the history of American comic books and yet doesn't really get discussed beyond her dedicated fanbase. It's interesting.
I have been a sheep caretaker for like two days and already I'm like. Wow. I get it.
I get why these were some of the earliest mammals to ever be domesticated. They look up to humans with this sort of dumb but all at once innocent and pure and trusting expression. They're happy to see you. They follow you around. They like to be rubbed under their chins. Maybe its just some latent Scottish highland shepherd DNA I still have in me but I look at my sheep charges and suddenly I see why the love of God for humanity is so often described as a shepherd and his sheep. I'd fight a wolf for these guys. I'd go way the Hell out of my way for them. I'd carry their young for miles on my own back.
I saw an article about how Last Voyage of the Demeter was losing money in the theaters and I was like "really? all my friends are seeing it, that's so weird"
then it occurred to me that I, producer of Re: Dracula, may be in a uniquely biased position here.....
"redracula producers georg" who produces 100 hours of re:dracula every year is an outlier and should not have been counted
#does anyone know which cinemas are showing it in the uk?
Sorry to say, it isn’t in UK at all:

So you're saying the Demeter ran into unexpected problems getting to England? This seems... oddly familiar...
in all seriousness it's very alienating knowing theres Something Wrong With You. like seeing your mental illness come through in your behaviour and thought processes and knowing it's irrational and unhealthy, knowing other people are reading you as weird or stupid, and not being able to do anything about it is such a lonely experience
What's cookin' good lookin'?

pro tip for disabled people (especially autistic people) that i just realized after literal years of chronic illness...
when a health professional asks how you're doing, it's not small talk. they want to know how your health has been. do not reply "good." if you seem them for chronic pain, talk about your pain. if you see them for mental health, tell them how you've been feeling. etc. etc. again... don't reply "good." jump right into it and be honest about your health.
When I was seeking help as a teenager I would fall for this trap every time and I would always kick myself for it. I don’t know how I could’ve handled this any better though, I wasn’t the professional who needed to have a complex theory of mind with my psychiatrist. I was just so used to masking my own feelings because no space ever felt implicitly “safe” that it seemed just as valid to keep that mask up in the company of a professional and pretend my so-called issues weren't as real as I thought.
I mean, they're a stranger to me. They're an authority figure. Even when I'd try to circle back around to that after having realized these mistakes, that same track of social courtesy would just derail that effort or make them seem too small to actually unpack.
I wasted so much time doing this. I really think doctors have to actually establish what they mean, too, if a conversation is initiated with these generic social niceties with no qualifiers to them it’s just very hard to actually go against that wiring to unpack how I'm presently feeling.
I’m almost never able to find full, complete stories through individual back issues when browsing through comic shops and today I finally did. I was so grateful, so thankful even, and as soon as I got home I proceeded to read them all in the wrong order anyways because I am a fucking fool.
Was anybody gonna TELL me about the abanodned 1991 doctor who cartoon series with a bunch of visual material, or was i supposed to once again fall into lore head down?
LOOK AT THESE DOCTOR DESIGNS
"I can't believe it's not tom baker!" (...looks a bit like capaldi, actually)

I’m taking this moment to announce that Jonathan Ohnn canonically has tattoos and the one on his shoulder is 100% Glad0s, you cannot change my mind. This makes him canonically a video game nerd and a Portal/Portal 2 enjoyer.
There’s also two more on his ankle and calf but I’m still figuring those out.
god he is my worst fear;
a portal fan getting portal based powers
“Oh my god you’re a writer? Can I read your stuff?”
