The plane going down was what Gina described confessing her feelings to Ricky to be like before the flashback for 206: "You know how sometimes when the plane is going down, people confess things because they know they’ll never see you again." — she had not control about leaving at that time. She is staying now.

Gina being in an airport is a big metaphor for her life, specially now when she feels like making choices. The plane symbolizes transition (just like both Gina and Ricky are going throught right now). Jack makes a paper airplane for Gina. Ricky makes an airplane hand movement on the episode. It’s not conincidence.

Gina has been inserted since the very beginning.

My son called about an hour ago. It was a really quick call, and he sounded so tired and so depressed, but he got two gifts from his family (a pair of wireless headphones and a coat) and he just was nearly begging to come see us for the rest of his winter vacation. I can cover the room from the 31st to the end of his vacation if I spend my disability on it, but he just sounded on the verge of tears and the sooner I can get the hotel room at least until the 31st would be amazing so I can go get him and give him a decent holiday. He’s been through so much and he deserves so much better than this. She didn’t even let him take home any of the gifts we gave him on his last visit expect the clothes. I am so mad and so sad and I just want to get my son and hug him for days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
