i mean typically this is like
>research shows testosterone HRT is not a contraceptive so you still need to use protection!
>ok. do you know if it has literally any effect on fertility whatsoever?
>lol no
>ok. so hypothetically how would a trans man on HRT know if he's pregnant?
>well silly girl :) you just check your period :) if you missed your period you might be pregnant! duh!
>ok. testosterone HRT stops your period after, like, 3 months though
>[windows error sounds] well then you can usually feel your breasts get heavier and more tender :)
>ok. what about people who don't have mammary glands anymore? how would that even work?
>listen i don't know. why don't you have a pregnancy test?
>those tests work by detecting a specific hormone. does HRT interfere with this hormone by either making it undetectable or stopping its production entirely or anything? how do i know the test itself is reliable?
>have you tried the morning after pill?
>the morning after pill is also hormone-based. how do i know it's reliable? does taking testosterone HRT have any impact on its efficiency? could it potentially cause an adverse reaction? could a trans man with updated ID documents even access it in the first place since the pharmacy only delivers it to people they think, at a glance, could be pregnant?
etc etc
like i dont know . i keep thinking of that doctor i saw three times at the goddamn hospital and to whom i explained the concept of taking hrt (prescribed) (controlled) (medical setting) three times and i still don't think he actually understood. "but you look different!" bingo doc that's what it does! "but ... can it actually change your body? :o" bingo doc ! that's what an """hormone"""" does . that's like its whole thing actually. that's what , it does ,
it's like the people at work (transcription) (remote office work) (linguistics) (spelling) (grammar) (writing) (language) (grammar) being confused at the concept of "pronouns". "what do you mean by "pronouns"?" cindy my belovedest ! i think the problem might not actually be that you don't know about The Transsexuals? i think you might actually just be worryingly bad at your job. you know? the job which is "know about grammar"? that job? the grammar job? the job that is about knowing grammar rules? that job? the one that you have? cindy? cindy. cindy look at me. CINDY,
Your period does not always stop after 3 months. For some on HRT, it will never stop. But yeah, doctors in a general medical setting are horrendous bout trans bodies.
I once went to A&E for heart palpitations/chest pain and they even said my blood pressure and heart were genuinely concerning. After being kept overnight the main doctor on the ward came to me and kept asking why I was on testosterone and I had to sit there after being kept awake for 8 hours and, well:
"Why are you on testosterone? What is it for?"
"Um, I'm trans."
"Trans what? What is that?"
"... Transgender?"
"Huh?"
*growing desperate* "FTM...?"
"What?!"
"FEMALE TO MALE TRANSGENDER. I AM ON TESTOSTERONE BECAUSE I AM TRANSITIONING."
"Oh, well your bloods came back fine. It looks like it's the testosterone that's messing with your blood pressure." (said with a clear implication that I should Not be on it and/or I should get off it if I don't want medical issues???)
My partner also had a GP look at their file, screech, and go "YOUR TESTOSTERONE IS WAY TOO HIGH FOR A CIS WOMAN!!! OH MY GOD!!!" and my long-suffering partner had to explain gently to this GP that actually yes, they want it that way and that it's intentional and not to suddenly cease prescription of their testosterone.
Telling people that it's a done deal that your period stops after 3 months messed me up when I originally transitioned, especially when doctors don't know either. My doc at least had the knowledge that HRT isn't a contraceptive but that seemed to be the one trans thing she did know. I was terrified of being pregnant but all her knowledge was about ciswomen and she offered a hysterectomy as my only option, despite also discouraging it in the same breath.
My period didn’t stop for quite a while, and she never checked my blood levels because, in her words, 'she knew what was in me since she prescribed the HRT.' Eventually, it did stop and it was seen as a success.
Cut to a year later and I move and there's a doctor who specialises in trans health closer to me. I go on the waiting list and the new doc is horrified at my first appointment because my testosterone was like 3 times the level of a cisman, despite it already being 3 months since my last HRT injection. She makes me go off HRT and my periods come back. I'm upset when I suddenly have my first period at work and have to admit it to the receptionist to go home and clean up.
Reception was an absolute ally despite the forced outing and ensured that sanitary bins could be put in the men's toilets(like legally she had to talk to the legal team about discrimination in the workplace) after someone started reporting me for being a 'non disabled person using the disabled toilets'
When I go back on HRT and am at a 'normal cismale level' my periods still don't stop. I start a new job and decide to be a pain in the ass to get sanitary bins put in the men's toilets for my convenience. Surprisingly, they are being used by someone else (don't know who, not my business)
Eventually, I’m prescribed a contraceptive pill to stop my period. My doctor is fairly confident it’ll prevent pregnancy, but like the original post says: how do I actually know? So much of what we’re told feels like hearsay, and rumours often get repeated as fact. I nearly got overdosed by a doctor who didn't know any better! At the end of the day, I’m just trying to piece together the most accurate info I can and hope I’m making the right choices for me.
I also have never had my period stop after 5 years. T makes it a little more irregular and less often, but it's like every 6-18 weeks.
I uh. Might ask about the possibility of increasing my dose and seeing if higher T levels will resolve it, thank you.
That may or may not work for you, since it's all trial and error, but I naturally have high testosterone so I think my body is just used to being blasted with T so it took 'causing me to go prematurely bald and making my blood thick and sludgy' levels of T to actually stop a period so it was better to go another route to get the results I wanted lol. Good luck with finding a balance that works for you

oh ym fucking god anime is cancelled FOR GOOD
can i offer you an egg in these trying times?
This is worse than the chicken nugget animation.
@radicalapollo @radicalapollo @radicalapollo
Thanks I
Because I used to enjoy watching shit anime for fun, I can tell you that this is from episode 3 of: 'A sister's all you need'
This is an anime about writing and the creative process and they were on holiday to do research.
He fed silver haired girl an egg to distract her from pleading for a sip of beer, which had taken the form of a long string of sexual innuendos being thrown at him, because she's under the legal drinking age (she's 18)
She has been practically throwing herself at the protagonist, who keeps turning her down. The "strange fetish" she alludes to, is that he's into little sisters. which to add: He’s an author who writes stories about little sisters and constantly laments not having a little sister, in a creepy way—ironically, he does have a step-sister who’s spent their whole relationship pretending to be a boy… because, well, yeah
I would seriously hesitate to recommend this to people due to the whole initial premise, but it does sneak up near the end with messages like 'don't be like this guy, you'll make those around you uncomfortable even if most people act fine about it', 'It can take time to figure out what you want to do with your life' and 'writing is hard and there's a lot of work behind the scenes'
Happy March 11!

Sure tumblr had the stupid infinite chocolate glitch, but at least it wasn't as real-world devastating as the people doing the Chase bank "infinite money glitch" this past weekend.
If you hadn't heard, some numb nuts on tiktok taught people how to commit check fraud and then people recorded themselves doing it.
If you knowingly write a check you know you don't have the cash to cover, then take that cash out of the bank, that's fraud, kids. A federal fraud at that because banks are federal institutions.
And putting it on tiktok while you're doing it??? Well, that's evidence in the fraud.
This isn't even the first mass fraud scheme that tiktok has been teaching people!
It showed people in Australia how to commit tax fraud a year or two ago and also touted it as some kind of infinite money hack.
Who knows how much fraud people are just bumbling into because tiktok showed them how?!
A Vulcan named Stork works at the Terran adoption agency. Parents always request that he be the one to deliver their child to them.
It’s years before anyone explains it to him.
People keep gifting him robes with long white birds on them.
The fun thing is he would understand why people were getting him outfits with storks on them. That’s a word, it’s his name, straightforward. All the humans get him the same gag gift, but like, they’re putting effort in at least. This is a genuinely nice outfit. Stork will be a walking zero-effort pun sometimes, rather than waste a perfectly fine robe.
It’s fine. This is a readily comprehensible human illogic. Exactly the kind of thing he expected from moving to Earth.
Six years in he finds out about the stork bringing babies.
Stork has a good long meditation session about this myth, his name, his job, the outfits, the whole shebang (or whatever Vulcan concept is the equivalent).
And he decides he’s honored by it, in a humanly illogical way.
The humans are asking him to do what is after all his job, and specifically requesting him for the joy his name brings them on top of an already agreeable and satisfying task. He has no objection to engendering positive emotions in others. Harm hastens the heat-death of the universe, Surak teaches, so happiness must logically slow it down.
Plus, Vulcans of his generation love puns. There were two decades of punning competitions in colleges across the planet. So when he realizes that he is a walking zero-effort pun, and that the humans also love the pun, he is all for it. He is the Joe Cool of the entire Vulcan population in his city.
And via this pun, the humans are including him in a cherished and traditional myth, by casting him as the literal bringer of life and the expander of families.
There’s no downside. Stork wears his robes, pins, keychains, and other bird-related tchotchkes with genuine pride.
YES IT’S BACK ON MY DASH AT LAST
For real though working together with some human social workers, a Vulcan would be an excellent caretaker for children in an adoption center.
Child has a meltdown? Imagine Stork, perfectly calm and unbothered, approaching the kid and saying “You appear quite upset, Eliza. If you would please allow me to relocate you to the ‘bean-bag-chair,’ we can discuss the source of your distress.”
A Vulcan educated in medicine and child psychology would be endlessly patient with a kid with behavioral issues. Stork wouldn’t get or upset or frustrated. After all, these are children with medical and psychological conditions. It would be illogical to blame the child or to not treat them with the appropriate care.
Even if the a little one was having a bad day or was just overtired, Stork wouldn’t get angry. He might even be a calming presence. Any new kids acting out would learn real quick that they’d have better luck trying to arm-wrestle a Klingon than get a rise out of Stork.
Not only that, Vulcans live much longer than humans. Imagine Stork looking virtually unchanged as decades pass. Kids he’d helped years ago would turn up fully grown, maybe there to adopt their own kids, and run into Stork, looking almost exactly as they remember him.
And he’d probably remember them too. “Welcome back, Eliza.”
“…Harm hastens the heat-death of the universe, Surak teaches, so logically happiness must slow it down…”
Will reblog every time it crosses my dash 🖖🏾

this tag makes me think of how much I want an old chinese guy version of columbo.
Solving crimes, an old guy with a trench coat and a tie, doing the "old man hands behind his back" pose, trying to do his best with his old traditional methods in a bright, modern city... the world moves too fast for him... but to notice the little things, you need a guy who sees the tiny details. His wife, you see, she loves all that modern stuff. Oh... 哦, 還有一件事.....

A quick, sloppy little comic about Magritte
i have no idea who these characters are but damn does this ever resonate
you will probably not look like a skinny white anime girl when you transition you will likely look like someone's mom and you need to realize how swag this is
I saw a picture of my mom last week and did a double take because we both realized how similar we look. skinny white anime girls are not real women but your mom is. I promise you look like a real woman
Shoutouts to the funniest possible tags on this post
What in the fanfic hell is this?? 😂😂
And there was only one (heart-shaped) bed
Sorry if it’s a little cramped- had to make this all fit in ten photos. Hope you guys like it….. and again…. sorry Andrew

Idea: Idol girl disappears and transitions to become the most boring 40 year old man who works a 9-5 and people wonder why there's photos of that idol girl in his house and he's like "that's me when I was 19"
Other people having half Human half Vulcan children and Spock just receiving emails from the panicked parents he’s never met like “are their medical readings supposed to look like this???”
“I’m not a damn pediatrician, Spock” *proceeds to give them all the most helpful medical advice they’ll ever receive* *ends up pioneering half human-half Vulcan children’s medicine* *becomes known as the expert on the subject*
