FUCK i know Taraji P. Henson wanted to leave POI and I know that Carter wouldn't have had a place logistically in where seasons 4 and 5 ended up bc of how the team regrouped around her death but... LORD if her death isn't devastating. It's not unexpected, the show does a good job at rounding off her arc in a way that makes sense, but it's just so sad. The first half of season 3 is Carter centric for a reason and it does feel like they did a decent job at making that death feel earned, but to be shot by Simmons of all people? Eugh. RIP Carter you deserved so much more.

dehumanization as horror is great and all but what about humanization as horror. Being forced into a role that was not made for you. Being forced to fulfill expectations that you can never achieve. Being made to exist in a society that so cruelly expects you to act in a way that is against your nature.

I don't think I'll ever shut up about john's death being narratively coherent even if tragic ( he was technically dead before the story started, he mentions multiple times how he SHOULD be dead and how this will end in either his of finch's death ) but root's being senseless & just straight up bury your gays

also i think people glossed over the slo-mo thing way too quickly. the implication is that robby either came up with it or heard other people using it and laughed along/started using it himself, which honestly is not any better than the first option bc he's her ATTENDING!! that's such a cruel thing to do... 😭😭😭😭😭 and the use of "slow" specifically carries so many implications about what people thought about her intelligence and probably made her doubt herself so much. i know that they were talking about her speed specifically but they're adults, they KNEW what connotations the word carries about intelligence when they came up with the name. however much of an issue her pacing as a doctor was, robby did SUCH a bad job at addressing it every step of the way... and it's so sad because the show makes it clear that adamson was universally regarded as a really great teacher, so robby got lucky enough to have this amazing mentor and proceeded to completely fail to actually internalize the lessons that adamson was trying to convey to him. and one of his worst fears probably IS letting adamson down... so he is making all of his worst fears come true!!

even before s2 came out i remember seeing convos between med students/people in residency online where people were like "is anyone else surprised about how cruel robby was in this scene???", referring to the scene where robby asks her if she's considered psychology. like it really was SO nasty of him to express that kind of doubt in her in her THIRD YEAR.... meanwhile ser whitaker is given the confidence of a second year resident at age 12

I think watching some random actor's entire filmography just because you fancy them is actually so important. It teaches you that even the most successful artists start somewhere. That they experience ups and downs and career ruts and often have to do very weird projects at some point just because their rent is due. And maybe you discover that you don't even like that guy all that much lol

I absolutely love the running gag of "meanwhile Fusco is starring in an action movie of his own across town." It truly never gets old. Fusco is saving a supermodel from a shoot out with a dozen armed men? Fusco is diffusing a bomb? Sure, why not! What the fuck can't he do.

controversial opinion but i don't think that it's necessary or progressive to remove or adjust every single conflict samira has with robby to 'fix' the story. the problem doesn't lie in the fact that the conflict exists, but how the show handles everything around it. they could have very much created a story with the exact same conflict and robby being just as assholerish and terrible while also doing her struggles, perspective, and character justice. but they didn't, and that's the problem. that's not me saying that all conflict was done well, it wasn't. but the conflict can still exist while also treating her character and her story respectfully.
