Within my lungs, two wolves
(popular leftist voice) these right wingers are so mad because they get no women. if you are a Good Person a woman will appear and suck your dick.
(popular leftist voice) these right wingers are all sooo poorrrr and stupid. They are stupid because they are poorrrr, racism would never exist in my suburban area
Popular leftist voice: these right wingers must have brain damage. They must be bigots because they are literally reta suffering from blsck mold, or brain damage.
Popular leftist voice: Every single right-wing person is literally so ugly and chopped, let me point out their exact features and how they're ugly. Having bad thoughts literally ages you. Good People are always hot and sexy and have kind countenances.
Popular leftist voice: these right wingers hate women?? I bet they take it up the azz bro... Hey no it's not homophobic to use gay as an insult I just want them to come out of the closet! Stop nitpicking bro ur making it hard to build a coalition #darkwoke
why do so many freaks go right to “there should be exams or tests before you have kids” when the real solution is better social services, robust infant and child development education that is accessible both financially and schedule/distance accommodating, and resources throughout any stage of a child’s life. genuine question like did you think about any social development before going straight to eugenics
I'll see people my age talk about how people "these days" are all worse at [blank] than people used to be and I'll be there like. at a stretch you maybe have flashes of memory from as early as 2005, it only gets semi reliable starting around 2010, and you're currently reflecting on your memories of 2014. you're waxing poetic about how people used to have media literacy during the height of the golden age of television when we were both in middle school at the time and weren't exactly keeping tabs on mad men discourse. my zoomer zibling: what the hell are you talking about.

Hi im a librarian amd that's not now this works. If a library allows you to have a digital card and not live in the area, you are NOT taking away resources from other people, that's not how anything works. Please keep doing it!!! The more people that use our services, the more money we can get from funding sources!!! Please use us!!! We are not utilized enough, by people in or out of our community. Thanks.
This comment was left on a post about making the most of the Libby app. "Excessive use of generous lending policies" is the most absurd phrase I've ever seen anyone use to discuss libraries.

The amount of slavery in Ancient Rome was legitimately terrifying tbh
Y’all know that I’m into ancient Roman history and I do a lot of research on it but even though I should be used to it by now sometimes I read an anecdote about how an individual slave was treated and I’m hit with the realization that like a third of the population was living like that and I just need to put my head in my hands for a second
Emperor Hadrian randomly stabbed a slave in the eye in a fit of rage and he was supposedly unusually sympathetic to slaves.
There’s other instances of people randomly punching slaves that they didn’t even know because they got in their way or something. This was just normal behavior.
And slaves didn’t rebel en masse because if even one slave committed an act of violent rebellion it was common practice to kill every slave and former slave in the household.
People only took notice for posterity when these mass executions got into the hundreds of people. One of the few recorded for the history books is of over 400 people being killed because one guy stabbed his enslaver.
Like how many people throughout history were beaten to death because some rich asshole was angry and there was no legal or social consequences for doing so? We don’t know.
When you study ancient history you’re reminded that slavery has never once been kind or justified. It just takes on different forms of evil in every time and place that it infects.
girlhood this girlhood that. woman you are 26
I got a message about how this is supposedly mean. I am holding your hand when I say that refusing womanhood and clinging onto girlhood will not save you from the realities of adulthood. I am not saying you are not young. 26 is incredibly young. you are free to love the concepts and media associated with girlhood but there is much to love about womanhood that you are not seeing. there is something to be said for being free of the shackles of girlhood and childhood. you are an autonomous being. you have power over your life and the paths you will take. it is easier to see the paths when you start taking yourself seriously instead of waiting for others to do so. no one is saying you have to be serious. womanhood is joy too. a different shade of yellow

crashing out about my final final final uni exams and called my lovely partner and he just played me the banjo on the other side of the line for ten minutes very grateful
it's truly insane how much more functional society would be and how much happier everyone would be if every job was perpetually 10% overstaffed (and people who weren't needed could chill and rotate in when needed while still getting paid) instead of 10-50% understaffed but that wouldn't be 'efficient' (in the short term, for shareholders) so fuck everyone I guess
When the character you love enacts the same violence that was done to them upon others
I think we tend to imagine the end-Cretaceous mass extinction in this really apocalyptic way, and like True the day of the impact was probably, on average, the worst day ever to be a multicellular organism on earth, it might well be the singular day in which the most things Died, but it’s not like the full extinction event took place in a day (save for species with tiny ranges who could be wiped out by a single natural disaster/getting hit by a fucking meteor) or even years (save for the biggest animals and some specialists that probably did die out Very quickly during the impact winter). There were almost definitely at least some nonavian dinosaurs doing their thing for centuries (if not millennia) after the impact, and were only lost gradually as the subsequent cascades of ecological collapse did their thing. If you could time travel to somewhere on earth 100 years post-impact, things would probably seem ‘normal’ and it would take longterm monitoring to realize that all the ecosystems around you are in a state of rapid collapse.
I hate cigarettes so much I hate that smoking is becoming cool again I hate that we're becoming contrarian hipsters about this disgusting habit that has literally killed so many people and destroyed so many lives I'm so serious we need to become absolute killjoys about this again it's time to go 90s scolds on cigarettes until the scourge is wiped out entirely.
Genuinely I just don't think people younger than 35 know how good they have it. I distinctly remember the year in my childhood that it became illegal to smoke in restaurants, I remember what it was like when people used to smoke indoors everywhere, you all think it's cool because it's this illicit fun thing people are doing drunk outside bars now, you don't remember what it was like when fucking everything reeked all the time and you couldn't get away from it and how life changing it was when you could suddenly go out to eat and everything didn't taste like ash and all your clothes and hair didn't stink for days when you got home.

Man who hates the very concept of life and all living beings: I should design portal websites for colleges and job applications
i feel like im a weird age where i got just a blurry glimpse at the world Before. it used to be cold in the mornings and websites had fun games and the search results showed you what you searched for. covid wasn't a thing. can anybody fucking hear me. did i dream it all????
I don't mean to dismiss the fact that the world feels like shit, but this is also an incredibly human experience. There was always a Before. Decades ago, there were people who remembered what cloth felt like before plastic and polyester, and before that there were people who remembered what food tasted like before it was processed at huge warehouses and factories, and before that there were people who remembered what the night sky looked like when there was no electricity. Centuries ago, people complained about how much better the air smelled before factories existed, even miles and miles away.
Even when the world around you doesn't change in a way that is strange and scary, you might. It's why that final line in Gatsby hits so hard.
