Premise -
In a universe that is not-quite that featured in the Sonyverse and The MCU, the feared and disgraced knight known as The Wolverine is sentenced to death for the crime of being a witchbreed. Sent to the pyre by Father Robert Kelly of The Holy Order alongside the part-time jester Wade Wilson. Despite both Witchbreed meeting a seemingly painful end, Logan is shocked when the jester also does not die.
This AU is very much a work in progress and open to change, as I also have plans to encorperate the avengers and various spider-men.

"Witchbreed" is the term used to refer to mutants. Originally used by Neil G*iman in the series Marvel 1602. While Witchbreeds--like their modern day counterparts--are the next step in human evolution, The Holy Order preaches that they are the spawn of demons and witches. Often, human mothers to witchbreed children are accused of either being witches themselves or allowing Mephisto into their hearts.

The world of the AU is very much like our own, with a few distinct differences. While the general 'layout' of the globe remains the same names and climates are not exact one-to-ones.
Current locations of importance include:
- Kingdom of Ventra
Where the majority of the story takes place. Name comes from a combination of the Latin words "Ventus" and "Terra", which (roughly) translates to "land of Wind", the direct translation of "America". Made up largely of small towns and hamlets surrounding larger cities, often ruled over by a noble lord or lady.
The Holy Order has a lot of sway within the kingdom, preaching anti-witchbreed sentiments throughout the land. In many places being a 'witchbreed' is punishable by death--however there are small towns or groups that act as safe havens for Witchbreed, such as the mining town of Acmeore at the Ventra-Kanata boarder.
- Kingdom of Kanata
The home kingdom of both Logan and Wade. Name comes from the Huron-Iroquois word meaning 'village' or 'settlement' (believed to be the origin for the spelling of 'Canada'). While The Holy Order does have a foothold within the kingdom, it is not to the same extent as Ventra. Rumours of the Kanatan spymasters using Witchbreeds to do their bidding have been rife for decades.
-The Rossiia Empire
The home of Pitor and Illyana Rasputin. Name comes from a 15th century name used to refer to modern day Russia. Unlike Ventra, Rossiia actively recruits Witchbreeds for combat roles in their military. However, this does not mean that they are widely accepted by the people of the empire as a rule. Due to the sheer size of the empire, treatment of and opinions towards witchbreed differ from territory to territory and even town to town.

So while doing some pirate research for the play I’m writing I stumbled upon one of the most amazing things I’ve ever read. In the 5th century A.D. there was a Scandinavian princess called Alwilda who’s father tried to set her up to marry Alf, the Prince of Denmark. Alwilda wasn’t cool with this so she and some female companions dressed as men, stole a ship, and sailed away. Eventually they met a company of pirates who were in need of a new captain and they were so captivated by her that they elected her as their new leader. Her crew became so infamous that Prince Alf was sent out to stop them. When their ships met he took Alwilda prisoner and she was so impressed by Alf’s skill that she agreed to marry him after all and eventually became the Queen of Denmark.
Medievalist here for triumphant fact-checking: this story is, if not true, at least true according to the history of the Danes (Gesta Danorum) written in the 12th century by Saxo Grammaticus. You can read his account of Alwilda’s story in the original Latin here, or in English translation here. Highlights include:
She exchanged woman’s for man’s attire, and, no longer the most modest of maidens, began the life of a warlike rover. Enrolling in her service many maidens who were of the same mind, she happened to come to a spot where a band of rovers were lamenting the death of their captain, who had been lost in war; they made her their rover captain.
I love the implication that there were lots of Danish maidens just WAITING for the opportunity of a life of piracy…
As much as I love bloodymary (and I really really really do love it), I do find myself wondering about the allo-centricism of how we've pushed a romantic subplot on two character who expressively do not have one.

Reasons Why Fans of Color Leave/Don’t Interact with Fandom
Casual racism that is brushed off as “an innocent mistake” or “they didn’t mean it” and then everyone pretending like it didn’t happen and moving on with their day (repeat)
Speaking over fans of color about issues that pertain to them specifically
When fans of color speak out about something that makes them uncomfortable or why that don’t interact with it (usually because of the racial/ethnic bias) they are accused of being anti’s or pro-censorship
Characters of color being used as scapegoats/bashed/plot devices
Characters of color never getting happy endings/real development
Backlash against characters of color if they do anything other than be a white character’s side kick/best friend
Actors of characters of color being harassed for something their character did or didn’t do
White characters/actors getting all the attention/credit despite the fact that they are a side character to a POC or on the same level as the POC
Fanfic authors patting themselves on the back for writing a “realistic” character of color and it’s just a bunch of stereotypes
Being told that they should be happy they were even included when they call out the above people
White fans crying about persecution/exclusion because their fav character/trope/kink/ship isn’t loved by all
Fan artists re-imaging characters of color as white/lightening skin tone
Everyone rushing to a white fans defense after a well deserved call out while the fan of color receives hate
Never having a safe fandom space and always having to be on guard with new people/fandoms/chats etc because they’ve been burned before
[looking at people younger than me] you have your whole life ahead of you [looking at people older than me] you have your whole life ahead of you [looking at myself] its over
