i think even if i enjoyed the experience of watching the pilot it still wouldn't click with me on a deeper level because the premise is fundamentally broken.

imagine a show where you're told off the bat that there is a multiverse. and in that multiverse, for some reason, entire universes are disappearing when some condition is met within them. and there are two factions: one who is trying to prevent these conditions from arising, and another that is intentionally bringing them about to harvest the dead universes for nefarious purposes. this is a solid premise for a show. the goals and stakes are easy to understand. this is gameoverse without the game. it's overse.

taking this idea, and then going "oh and also it's in a video game world" sounds like it should be trivial, but it's not. there's more to being a video game than just being a video game. a video game is something that is programmed by a human being person for other people to play. a big part of gameoverse's premise is that these video game worlds die when the "game" is "over", which is also when you stop playing a game. but is there anyone playing the game? if worlds are deleted when games end, are they not also created when a new game begins? are all of these worlds not inherently disposable? they are made to serve a purpose, and when they are no longer needed they stop existing.
