My name is Clover (she/they), and I welcome you to my witchy corner of the Internet.
Within my practice I tend to mainly focus on animism and connecting to nature. I follow the Pagan Sabbats, as they correspond with the seasons as a way to honor the Earth. I am also a hobbyist historian! I absolutely adore learning about cultural history. Diving into articles and books on the history of witchcraft and occultism is one of my favorite pastimes. Occasionally I may post things that are non-witchcraft related, but the main purpose of this space is to host spiritual and witchy conversations amongst various folks.

seeing a lot of responses to that "sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from chores" discussion going around that made me realize that more people might really benefit from reframing "chores = punishment" into "chores = necessary maintenance." like, it's something i've struggled with as an adult as well, but i do genuinely recommend figuring out a way to detach "chores" as a concept from something you view as this bad horrible thing you must surmount, and instead frame it as tasks that need to be done for your health and well-being. and i think then that take will seem less discouraging, if you initially took it as such.
trust me i also struggle with getting my mundane chores done and i'm still learning to keep house in my 30s. i'm a very clutter prone person and i've had to fight to incrementally incorporate a regular routine into maintaining our home but every small step of progress i make is worth it, and the same has been true for my magical practice.
also just general disclaimer that i understand folks that struggle with chronic fatigue and other disabilities will have to approach this in different ways! this is just what's helped me.

It's really infuriating to see so many new books on appalachian folk magic, only for those books to promote new age spirituality as if it has anything in relation to appalachian folk magic. And many people believing what these people write are people who wanna practice appalachian folk magic, then later promote classist stereotypes about appalachian locals.
I dunno about you but I wasn't raised around crystals, astrological signs (besides the signs in the farmers almanac to dictate how to crop and do animal husbandry at the right times), or the fae in the typical fae talk.
Adding in new items was once a treasure for Appalachians...sharing with your neighbor. But burying the old traditions in a fancy glitter covered new age blanket is still burying it. Don't claim you're doing AFM if you're just doing New Age Lite Mode with a little dirt smudged in for that -look-.
I can ramble on and on about the changes and neuances of doing the work on the modern times. But sometimes I get real disappointed with authors throwing out anything under the Appalachia umbrella. Our mountains are still breathing the good word into people, it's not dead to be talked about in a...historical "nobody knows" context.

At this point if anyone is trying to exclude anyone benignly pro-queer from a pro-queer space I'm just going to assume you're a fed or something idk like something something destabilize the movement from within or whatever
For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.
It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.
It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)
As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.

Roy led every higher-up to believe he was just a fuckboy and a manwhore in this for his own ego and that they shouldn't view him as any kind of violent revolutionary like "no sir I'm just a slut."
I'm surprised I didn't say this in the original post but to specify: Roy Mustang grew up in a brothel, specifically he grew up adopted by a woman running a brothel where, specifically, all the women there are in the business of covert information reconnaissance by playing escort to important politicians.
Which. is an absolutely batshit primary character backstory to mention once, late in the series, and then immediately move on from.
And actually Hiromu Arakawa did it so well that every single fan interpretation of Roy Mustang for the FMA03 anime treated him as an honest to god man-slut. Bought his whole act hook line and sinker.
And you do, in fact, need to get further into the manga/Brotherhood to realize he is just acting like a slut because surely a true and honest hand-to-god slut like this guy wouldn't be overthrowing the government.
fun fact uncontacted peoples are not ignorant they are fully aware of the "outside world" and are CHOOSING not to have contact because they (rightly) feel it would add no value to their lives and place them in an exploited position. it's voluntary. they are isolated on purpose.
