Dear Tumblr,
once again you’ve terminated my account for violating the community guidelines, and once again here I am starting over.
Who are you catering these community guidelines to? How are you deciding it’s ok to completely erase all of my art, all the work I’ve put into my account, take away my platform for expressing myself, delete all of my contacts, all of the people I’ve made connections with over the years?
Someone recently compared my account being disabled to a robbery. It’s as if someone came in to my house and stole all my art supplies, and the canvas I paint on. It’s all gone.
Just like that with one exposed nipple, erotic artwork, kiss, a suggestive photo...you take everything away from me.
I am not a pornbot. I am not a spambot. I am not a purveyor of child pornography nor am I one who promotes racist, fascist, or other hate fueled speech (although these latter content categories appears to be saved from your culling). I am not a computer generated program to infiltrate your platform for any nefarious purpose.Â
I am going to continue to create content that resonates with me on this account, and post things I want to resonate with other people; to make them think, laugh, smile, get angry, and sometimes turn them on..being mindful, as I always have been, about the content I’m putting out into the world. But even with the best intentions I most likely will, at some point, post an image or a video that gets flagged, and after a few warnings this account too will be terminated.
Please remember I am a person. I am an individual. I have been one of your consumers for many years.
I am just one. Yet, I am one of many.
I am one that when joined with others creates multitudes.
And it is this multitude who have contributed mightily to your platform. We are the ones who are among the generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality that you boasted your platform contained.
