The Black Nerd. A common character type, the nerd will always be very interested in all things nerdy: science, video games, mathematics, etc. In an continued effort to combat stereotypes, the Black Nerd will be lack athleticism, probably being asthmatic (the nerdiest of conditions). The Black Nerd will dress smartly, suspenders and bow ties. They’ll always talk smart too, using proper English with complex words.

Now, I don’t have a problem with a black character being a nerd, indeed black people are a people; we aren’t all the same and we all have varying personalities. The problem I have is that too often we see a distinct disconnect between Blackness and the Black Nerd. The Black Nerd doesn’t listen to hip hop or rap, only classical music. The Black Nerd only has white friends, the only other black characters are into not nerdy stuff. The Black Nerd never ever uses AAVE at any time in any context.

This is a frilly dragon

the tiny dragon is filled with a great need to become a Big Boi! He puffs up his chest and flares out his wings to become the biggest boi!

However, he is a little hungry

He is suddenly struck with a craving for the tastiest human pastry

Yeah! Why should this beeg boi have to make his own pie? He’s a dragon! Dragons, especially beeg bois, take whatever they want!

The dragon flies over to the nearest town and quickly picks up the scent of its bakery

Fresh pies! Foolishly set out to cool.

Respect your rp partners who are fast. Don’t shame them. It’s not a bad thing that they are excited about your reply or have a method.  Making them feel guilty is wrong.  Don’t fault people who want to reply to you.  It doesn’t mean that people who are fast, do not have a life.  Some people just are most comfortable being quick and are excited.  There is nothing wrong with being fast.

Respect your rp partners who are slow. Some people just have a longer process, ponder things longer, and genuinely are just busier. Some people just prefer to have a longer queue, take longer. It doesn’t mean they’re not excited.   There is nothing wrong with being slow.
