Can’t believe this still happens in women’s sports coverage in the year 2026:
<camera stays on a fit, young woman hugging a female cyclist who just finished a time trial>
Male commentator: “I can’t say if that’s her mum that’s with her...”
Female commentator: “I think it’s the girlfriend actually”
You can be disappointed with someone WITHOUT dogpiling them or cutting them out of your life.

do you find blood pressure cuffs painful?
yes, and i have fibromyalgia
no, and i have fibromyalgia
yes, and i don't have fibromyalgia
no, and i don't have fibromyalgia
yes, and i might have fibromyalgia
no, and i might have fibromyalgia
i don't know what counts as pain & i have or suspect fibro
i don't know what counts as pain & i don't have or suspect fibro
protip: if you do find them painful, ask to have your blood pressure taken on your forearm instead! it might be less painful there for you. my understanding is that it's very slightly more inaccurate so medical professionals don't tend to suggest it, but not inaccurate enough for it to not be an option.

MY DEAR TUMBLR USERS!!
WONDERFUL NEWS!!
NETHERFIELD PARK IS LET AT LAST!!!
What a wonderful thing for our girls!!!
How so? How can it affect them? 🤨
My dear Merian! You must know I am thinking of his reblogging from one of them!
Is that his design in blogging here?
Design? nonsense, how can you write so! But it is very likely that he may reblog from one of them, and therefore you must follow him as soon as his blog is online.
I see no occasion for that. You and the girls may follow him, or they may follow him by themselves, which perhaps will be still better for them, for as you are as clever as any of them he might reblog most from you of the party.
My dear, you flatter me. I certainly HAVE had my share of cleverness, but I do not pretend to be anything extraordinary now. When a woman has five grown-up mutuals, she ought to give over thinking of her own reblog counts.
In such cases, a woman has not often much of a reblog count to think of.
watching today’s Tour de France coverage on Peacock.
Tejay and Brent: Doping is bad. Yes, there is some bad history. Cycling is a clean sport now.
Me: <narrowing my eyes>
Me: What about clean cycling coverage? can we have that?
Me: <setting timer to Paul’s next ad for Lance Armstrong podcast on Peacock>

My extraordinarily minor feminist pet peeve is people calling female politicians by their first name but male politicians by their last name. I will not be calling Harris by her first name until I meet her in person, or until people collectively start calling Trump by his first name.
The exception is Hillary Clinton, who gets full name'd at all times. However, I also call Bill Clinton by his first and last name, so it's still equal.
You think first name is dismissively familiar while last name is respectfully official. Perhaps last name is drearily official, and first name is celebrity. Trump was never just Donald, he was The Donald. Hilary was Hilary when Bill was only (or already?) Clinton...not even President Clinton, from what I remember. Or maybe it's not either of those dichotomous organizing principles. What about AOC and RBG and JFK? I've thought in the past that common nominal reference lined up more with the party of the person speaking. That seemed true at the time, but has not remained always so solid.
Identification by last name is common journalistic, political, and academic practice. Identification by first name or mononym is mostly interpersonal, but occasionally celebrity if said celebrity markets themselves that way (eg Beyonce). Identification by initials is common when surname alone doesn't work (either due to other prominent family or the surname simply being very very common) and/or the full name is too long for Americans to give a fuck. It's not really about what I think is dismissive or familiar, it's about conventions of Standard American English being applied differently to women. It's somewhat like calling adult women "girls" or how the word "bossy" is only ever seems to be applied to women and girls.
Kamala Harris is a politician. Ergo, convention holds that she should be referred to by her surname, not by her first name.
Hilary Clinton is a complicated case.
She did not take her husband’s name when they married. She was Hilary Rodham when she was the First Lady of Arkansas for the first time. She added Clinton to advance her husband’s political career. (She even tried to be Mrs. Bill Clinton during Bill’s second gubernatorial campaign.) Later she dropped Rodham to further her own political career.

My summary of Moss’d in Space by Rebecca Thorne so far: sentient moss has big moods
And I am loving it.
The discussion about AI usage in fandom means it's a good time to (re)read the Immaculate Heart College Art Department Rules. There's no win and no fail. The only rule is work. It's lighter than you think.
I love finding out news from Tumblr memes. Usually prefer the Destiel meme, but this one is *chef’s kiss*
