It is said the devil is on the details. Armand too.
Why him nor Daniel didn't choose machetes or knifes to do the work? I've got an addition.
The sickle is not only a weapon for classic terror, or a very useless tool for cutting clean (it's made for harvesting); in this context it has a more symbolic thing: it's about the bloodline.
Armand and therefore Daniel descend from the druidic vampiric blood, children of the Dark Celtic God (some say it's Teshkhamen, maker of Marius, some other say there's another vampire son of Akasha who is the original god… anyway).
One the treasures of druids was the legendary golden sickle, which Romans consider they have magical properties to harvest a miraculous mistletoe.
And… well~
(If Daniel's shirt has a meaning why not this, right?)
