it’s really so interesting because armand keeps trying to apologize to the daniel from 52 years ago. he wants to start at the beginning. he knows the damage he’s done began there in san francisco. he knows it continued across those 52 years. but daniel doesn’t know that. he only remembers those 6 days—a fraction of what happened between them back then. daniel’s pain is focused on the here and now. his deepest wound (that he knows of) is armand turning him and then abandoning him. his maker left him. his maker who said he was repulsed by making fledglings. so why should daniel be any different? but of course, he is. and armand knows that. armand is trying to tell him that. trying to apologize in the right order. except nothing with them is in the right order. it never has been. so the apology can’t be either. i truly believe the moment armand finally acknowledges what he did to daniel in the recent past is the moment things will start to heal.

if you haven’t seen what the show has been doing with devil’s minion (since season 1, mind you!) then sorry but i actually feel bad for you. because i and many others have been watching a slow-burn gothic romance unfold and come into focus and sharpen and shift and lead us to the present where they are finally face to face, talking directly about what they’ve been building to this entire fucking time. if you want all relationships to be spoon fed to you and look the same and follow the same trajectory or timeline then you’re looking for something formulaic and flat and that is NOT what is happening with devil’s minion. no we aren’t getting everything all at once. no we aren’t having intense makeout sessions (yet). we are, however, getting a full on LOVE CONFESSION in this out of order, extremely charged way. we are getting wall slams and lip-staring and heated glances and i want to be your maker and hey btw i’ve been following you your whole life cleaning up after you because i can’t leave you alone and i can’t look away. like. do y’all realize how gratifying it’s gonna be when we do get those flashbacks? when we finally get that hard won, dam-breaking, at long last fucking kiss??
