One Note

A story never read,

A game never played,

A song never heard,

Star number one: Dianiesse, a movie actor, had the change of heart because the commoner shed a tear as she said the words. And she looked pretty.

Star number two: Hizock, a racer, heard my very satisfied giggle. That was stupid of me.

Star number three: Grobula, a musician, voted against her, but congratulated her on the win with as much enthusiasm as he had showed while wishing me luck backstage.

Then they turned to me. A 'better luck next time' would have cut it just fine. But seeing that I wasn't supposed to have one, they puked speeches one after another. Well they were more like eulogies- by people who had known me for three weeks, had seen me competing with fifteen other luckless bastards for my life, and had seen me be the best. I beat every single one of them in every single task. I lied, cheated, bullied and bribed and got to the top. Fair and square. It should have been enough. But for her.

She complained. No, she didn't just crib about it to the judges and the audience . She officialy complained. In writing. With proofs attached.

You'd expect that when you let a commoner be a part of the society, include her in, and literally show her pity, she'd appreciate it. A decent person would probably have just been thankful and made a respectable modest exit in the first week or so. The least I had expected was that she'd play by the rules. But no! She complained. Any sane person would have kicked her out just for writing the fucking letter. But oh! No no no! As per The Code written three fucking generations ago, a person who's caught cheating will have their points deducted. Yeah. A person who goes out of the way, puts in more effort, spends money, pulls in contacts and favours from all the high places and does what not should have their fucking points deducted!

Well her gall paid off. But I don't give up easy.
