[lawyer voice] mothers and fuckers of the jury-
DO YOU KNOW HOW OFTEN I THINK ABOUT THIS POST??? IM IN LAW SCHOOL THIS POST IS GOING TO RUIN MY LIFE

You know technology literacy is dying because I saw this meme with 76k likes
F11 the full screen button? Youāre scared of the full screen button? F10?? It opens the menu bar???
Computers are so scary what if I accidentally hit F12 in a steam game and it takes a screenshot. What if I press shift + F12 while in word and accidentally save my document š
If you had to learn what the F keys on your computer do through me reblogging this post, then I'm glad you did. Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but āļø don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you
Never stop learning+ Never stop sharing what you learned
This came to me when I was half awake this morning and I was compelled to draw it lol
Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

Getting old is preferable to The Alternative, but it's still full of indignities no one warns you about. Like watching a drug commercial that's talking about what you consider "Old People Problems" and realizing the backing track is a muzak version of a song you listened to in high school. :(
the replacement of websites with apps sounds so backwards when you actually describe it. like hmm you have to download an entire program onto your device each time you want access to a portal, where it takes up storage indefinitely. somebody should invent an app where you can "browse" any portal just by typing in its address... š„“
tumblr works better on mobile web
Bonus: If I buy a book I get to keep it! The publisher can't turn up at my house at random and confiscate all the books I bought.
>āthis thing is too generic and tropeyā

"How's the writing going?"
The document is open. That's the most I can confirm.

Beyond his art, Neal Adams is rightfully remembered as an eternal champion of creatorsā rights and for the part he & his work played in the Comics Code revision ofĀ ā71 but his contribution to John Stewartās creation is ā I think āĀ a rather underrated aspect of his career, especially as itās such a great reminder of the kind of person he was. Taken from an interview conducted and transcribed by Allen W. Wright over at the Green Arrow: Bold Archer fansite, hereās Neal discussing Johnās beginnings (x).

fascinating how often men expect women to sympathize with their fears of being perceived as or treated like a woman
so much "masculinity" is constructed around the certainty that being gay or being a woman is inherently demeaning. and we're supposed to nod along supportively
"male loneliness crisis" ok so like.....what would happen if you started acting like a better friend to other men in your life? what's stopping you? is it the fear of being perceived as one of your inferiors?
"men aren't allowed to show emotions" ok so likeā¦..what would happen if you started being more emotionally expressive? what's stopping you? is it the fear of being perceived as one of your inferiors?
#patriarchy hurts men #patriarchy hurts boys
i think you've VERY fundamentally misunderstood the point of my post tbh
men and boys first and foremost hurt themselves to avoid being perceived as their lessers (i.e. women and gay men)
they could stop. but the punishment is being perceived as one of us, and that would be just terrible. so they won't.
i'm fucking tired of being expected to endlessly wring my hands over the poor men who are hurt by patriarchy toooooo...when the only penalty they really face is being treated like the people they consider subhuman (women and gay men)
the Only way men will ever stop "being oppressed by the patriarchy" is if they dismantle the idea that women and gay men are inferior
once a man decides that there's nothing wrong with being seen as gay or a woman, the power of "the patriarchy" over their lives is vastly diminished
but you cannot force your oppressors to stop seeing you as a subhuman. this is something men have to choose for themselves
and they overwhelmingly do not. because when they're not playing victim/wounded bird about the circumstances of their gender, they fundamentally understand that they benefit from patriarchy far more than they are harmed by it
jadzia my beloved
A reminder that sell-buy dates or best-used-by dates are not the same as expiration dates.
I love that a food bank is providing this info as they are experts in stretching food budgets and knowledgable in shelf-stable food items
So I followed the link to the website and found the longer list.
The website puts a link to the USDA site which links to foodsafety dot gov who really wants you to use the app, but you can bypass it.
Also a link to the Canadian government's advisory on best-before dates.
Both sites have links to pages that get more into food storage.
As it is food drive season I'd like to remind people that while food might be edible past these dates, food banks and food pantries will not use food past those dates, so please don't waste their time by donating things they will not use

"Google AI Overview court loss in Germany could spell doom for AI search industry."
It fucking better.
Like to charge, reblog to cast?
I have food poisoning, Iām on my period, I have a migraine, my POTS is out of control, and Iām meant to get on a flight tomorrow to hopefully make it to my fatherās death bed in time.
Emailing me a āreviewā of my book calling it cringe cannot hurt me. And if you claim you hoped to achieve anything else youāre either a liar or in denial about your own motives. You should reflect on that.
I made this non-rebloggable earlier because I didnāt want it to leave containment, but after discussing this with some other friends who primarily sell their work via booktok and Insta, this is apparently a thing right now where readers are going out of their way to message authors āhonest and valuable feedbackā because they believe authors need to be told how to improve.
Except theyāre not giving actual valuable feedback, because being critical of something does not actually mean having constructive critical feedback.
Being able to offer constructive feedback is a skill. It doesnāt mean āhaving a negative opinion.ā
You donāt need to be a professional writer or editor, but you do preferably need to have a basic understanding of technical writing skill, an understanding of the genre you are critiquing and a very basic grasp that just because you do not like something, does not make something objectively bad.
Messaging me to tell me you find something ācringeā isnāt valuable feedback. Thatās you going out of your way to make sure a stranger knows you donāt like them.
Doubling down and emailing me back to tell me you ājust wanted to help,ā like help where? Where was the feedback?
What am I supposed to do with that except feel bad and stop writing?
You knew what you were doing and I will hold that mirror up. If the reflection you see makes you uncomfortable, thatās on you.
- -
Also, as a wider note: donāt do this in general, donāt tag or email authors in negative reviews.
Reviews are for other readers. They belong in reader spaces. If an author invades reader spaces and gets mad about what they see, thatās on them. But donāt go up to the authorās online door and demand they acknowledge your personal dislike. Thatās weird. Why are you doing that? Rate the book one star for your own records and move on to the next one.
