every now and then westerners will get fixated on how "funny" a parody/dub rewrite of east asian media whose thesis and punchline is "those wacky chinks and their stupid culture" and the delivery for this punchline is a blatant lack of care in portraying the genre they're parodying or rewriting the entire dialogues wholesale to turn the whole thing into a joke. The "joke" is that there is no duty of care for westerners that reinterpret east asian cultures and that the gleeful abandonment of this duty is finny. I cannot tell you how much I side-eye people who do all the pantomiming of being anti-racist or whatever but never does an ounce of critical reading of the paratextual context that leads them to laud and defend these things while saying that they're actually on my side. At least their (statistically likely) racist yank suburban parents are more honest and blunt about what they think of me and the culture of people that are like me.
