I am once again begging people to realize that AI checker doesn’t work. it’s never worked. it’s notoriously known to have flagged human-made works as AI and AI-generated works as human-made. and by feeding it people’s works, you are feeding more works to AI, because apparently the machine itself is AI.
the only thing AI checker does is harm genuine artists and people in general too.
some of y’all will be engaging in witch hunt, accusing writers left and right and then wondering why more and more writers take their works down and don’t share them with you ungrateful losers anymore.
“this fic looks like it was created by ai” yeah that’s because ai was trained on human-made works and it was trained to mimic human-made works.
you claim you hate ai because ai harms real artists, yet you are out there accusing and harassing artists because “their vibes just aren’t right”. at this point, you are the ones who cause more harm — to art and the writing community — than ai does.
you are the ones killing art and writing community, the community you want to “protect against ai”.
so at this point, you’re killing the community faster than ai is. good luck when the community you want to protect has no human-made work left because you accused and harassed genuine artists/writers away and the only things that are left for you to read are actual ai-generated fics.
if you think a fic is ai and if that bothers you like it does me, quietly exit the tab and avoid their future works like a normal, decent person. because with every "this fic looks ai" comment, there's always a chance of you wrongly accusing an innocent writer and further harming the writing community as a whole.
This is an issue that I hadn’t thought of, but it makes sense that it is becoming one.
These days, if you type anything online that sounds “intelligent”, people assume it was written by A.I. They completely forget that yes, humans have brains and the ability to use them. Humans could write beautifully before A.I. existed. We shouldn’t make people afraid to use their minds because they’ll be falsely accused.
Writing well shouldn’t become a stigma or a mark of shame.

Two of Hearts ♥️ Companion Post - Seven Up and Seven Down Ruleset
Hello! So in my most recent ALBW Zelink fic, Two of Hearts, it features a card game known as "Sages Up and Sages Down" which Link and Zelda play alongside Zelda's family. Unfortunately, I wasn't really able to explain the game in detail due to general story limitations, but I wondered if anyone might be interested to know that their card game is based on a real card game which I frequently play with my own family irl! The game is called Seven Up and Seven Down, and it has a fully detailed ruleset. So I figured, why not write out the rules and attempt to explain the game more in-depth to anyone who might be curious? So now, here I am, with a long list of rules and instructions for anyone who might be interested in learning a fun card game that you can enjoy playing with your own family and friends!
Unfortunately, I do think it is a bit difficult to grasp this game without learning as you play. And despite my best efforts, I'm not certain if my writing will be entirely coherent or give the strongest understanding of the game. But I figured it would still be fun to try :)
Rules below the cut.
Seven Up and Seven Down
What you need to play:
a standard deck of 52 cards
2 players minimum, 7 players maximum
Rules:
The game follows a general cycle of dealing, bidding, and playing.
The dealer will shuffle the deck and deal everyone one card (including themselves). They then flip one card up and place it on top of the deck (faceup). Each player will pick up their card and look at it, but will not show anyone else.
Next, the players must bid on how many tricks they expect to take. The goal of the game is to successfully take as many tricks as you bid. So for example, if you bid that you’re going to take one trick, you want to make sure that you take one and only one. If you are bidding zero, you want to make sure that you don’t take any tricks at all.
Players will bid by placing a closed fist in the center of the table (like a thumbs up but without your thumb sticking out 👍). Once everyone has their fist in the center, the players will pound the table three times simultaneously 💥💥💥 On the third strike, you stick out a finger for every trick you want to take 👉 So if you want two tricks, you stick out two fingers on the third strike. If you want zero, you keep your fist closed. This makes the game interesting as you don’t know what anyone else is bidding until you have already placed your bid. It forces you to predict how your hand will play out in the following rounds, and consider what hands your opponents might have.
A scorekeeper will make a note of which players have placed bids, and how many tricks each of them expect to take. And then the game begins in earnest.
The person who was dealt to first will lead. They place their card in the center of the table (faceup) . This card’s suit is considered the lead for that round. Whoever plays the highest card of this suit will take the trick (the trick being the pile in the middle). However, the suit of the card sitting faceup on the deck (which the dealer turned up after dealing) is considered the trump. If someone plays the trump suit, they will take the trick, regardless of what was led.
For example: Player 1 plays a five of spades♠️ on the table. This means that spades is the lead for this round. Player 2 plays a king of spades♠️. They are now set to take the trick, unless someone else plays the ace of spades, or whatever suit the trump is. Let’s say the trump is hearts♥️. If someone plays a 3 of hearts♥️ on this trick, and no one else plays a higher heart, they will take the trick.
When a suit is led, you must play a card of that suit if you have one in your hand. So if someone leads with a 9 of diamonds♦️, you must play a diamond card♦️ from your hand. If you do not have a diamond card, then you can play whatever you like. This is a good time to play trump and try to take the trick, since it will beat the diamonds. It is also a good opportunity to throw away a high card (like a king of spades♠️) if you don’t want to take any tricks.
A trick is taken after everyone has played one card. The pile is swept out of the middle and given to whoever took it. The person who took the trick will then lead in the next round. They play a card in the middle of the table and determine the new lead for that round. The trump suit will stay the same until you change dealers.
Everyone takes a turn dealing in a clockwise circle. Every round, you will deal one additional card, all the way up to seven. So on the first round, everybody gets one card. Second round: two cards. Third round: three, etc. Once you reach seven cards, you then deal seven again on the next round, and then go down by one card each round all the way back down to one card. Seven up, and seven down.
Special Rounds: There are some rounds that have a few special rules applied to them:
On the second deal of seven cards, you do not flip over a trump card on top of the deck. This means that there is no trump for this round, and only the highest card of whatever suit was led takes the tricks. In this instance, an Ace of the lead suit will always take a trick.
The other special round is the final one. When you deal all the way back down to one card, you play that round, and then you enter the final round. You once again deal one card to everyone, but this time, they are not allowed to look at the card. The players must instead place the card on their forehead, so that everyone but them can see their card. This means that you are allowed to see every card that is not your own. In this instance, a good strategy is to check if someone else has a high trump card. If they do, then it’s likely that they’ll be taking the trick, and you should therefore bid zero.
A scorekeeper will tally up the points once every card has been played and all tricks have been taken. The players earn points by either taking tricks or getting their bid. Each trick is worth one point, and getting a correct bid is worth ten points. So if you bid three, and take all three tricks, you get 13 points. However, if you take four tricks, you lose the 10 points for not getting your bid, and only get 4 points. If you bid zero and take zero, you get 10 points. If you bid zero and take one, you only get 1 point. Whoever has the highest score at the end of the game wins.
-end of rules-
My family has played this game countless times over the years, and we always find it to be SO much fun 😂😌 There's a lot of laughs to be shared as everyone is trying desperately to make their bid. Or struggling to even determine what their bid should be in the first place lol. If anyone is even remotely interested, I highly recommend giving this game a chance. It's a blast once you get the hang of it 💯
If you have any questions or need anything to be explained in clearer detail, feel free to reach out! :)
holy shit that was intense.. i just wanted to QUICKLY check out grease pencil, made a small messy sketch and then locked in so hard that i've spent the next three days animating for twelve hours a day (my wrist is on fire)
there was actually no legs ocarina at first.. he was just looking at someone and then waved at them. but i thought "fuck it we ball" and i think that was the point of no return
overall i was pleasantly surprised, i really enjoyed working with grease pencil... until i got to coloring and got so mad i wanted to abandon the whole thing, or export lineart and color it in krita. but i'm a stubborn little shit, so i just kept going and reopening the app every time it would crash over and over and over and
so yeah, apart from the background, everything was done in blender through blood and tears and it was an interesting experiment
i'm gonna go lay down now, thank you for your attention

Ok so I used to be the BIGGEST Doctor Who fan ever. I'm talking: watched all the DVD bonus content, had a shelf full of books and magazines, made LOTS of fanfics & fanart, made my own card deck with drawings of enemies, items, companions, and doctors on each suit, won trivia, the whole shebang. I got into it when I was 10ish around the time season 5 was coming out and I was hooked for several years. And the through line in all of that? Murray Gold's music. I listened to it EXCESSIVELY, all the time, for studying music, art music, daydreaming/writing music, you name it.
And the power of coming back to those same themes years later... even just because of a musical analysis video on YouTube...
You want a way to travel back in time? Listen to formative music.
Just a few notes of the Doctor and companion themes and I'm back in my old home, doing homework, watching cartoons, vibing with Owl City, writing my billionth fanfic about Jenny the Doctor's daughter returning, or making physical art with the excited, imaginative, whimsical spirit of a child. Summer leaves and sunlight filtering gold through the windows, wind chimes and blue jays and red-winged blackbirds and morning doves singing with the windy leaves and honking geese... space and Heaven sprawling out as wondrous unknowns to be explored in dreams, books, and the future... it's the feeling of childhood, of precious memories where things were simpler. I can feel my old imagination all over again, and it's a beautiful, bittersweet feeling.
And in listening to that old soundtrack now, I sort of get this sense that one day, that level of peace, simplicity, and childlike wonder will hit me again to the same if not a greater extent, even if it takes until Heaven to get there. And though I can't explain it...
It's got me feeling all sorts of hopeful =)
