Like. I remember back in my grocery store cashier days I did so much crazy shit.

When WIC (Women, infants, and children voucher program to help low income mothers/families with children) people were in my line I would pretty much know who they were. Before the cards they had to tell us upfront they were WIC and show us their vouchers for what they were allowed to get (it was awful some times. Like. 2 gallons of milk. $4 worth of vegetables etc etc). They’d always have items hanging back, waiting to see what the total was and if they would have to take it off the belt.

I began to place the fruits/vegetables a certain way on the register scale so that like 1/2lbs of grapes read as like .28lbs or something. Then act shocked when I said that they still had X amount of lbs left. They got all their fruit and vegetables.

I think it started to kinda? Catch on to the women? Because I would have the same moms in my line month after month. And even after they switched to the cards (they worked like food stamp cards?) I’d still do the same thing. They were able to get more produce for whatever shitty max amount Indiana gave them.

- Characters growing and being redeemed is like, the whole point of SU so an irredeemable villain probably isn’t something to wait for. The only character who can’t be redeemed is Pink since she’s gone and she isn’t a villain. She did some fucked up things but she also did good things and she was loved; she is a morally gray character and simplifying her down to just the good or the bad is kind of a waste of her character. A lot of us have people we love in our lives that we still love despite them having fucked up; things aren’t just black and white.

- Spinel is a great character and I can really relate to her feelings, but she isn’t guiltless either. She tried to hurt and kill Steven and everyone he cared about repeatedly because she was hurt. Being hurt doesn’t give you a free pass to hurt others.

- Pink Diamond left Spinel because she wasn’t growing like Pink was. It’s a fuckin’ dick move, but I understand not wanting to keep someone who clings to you and impedes your and their growth. This movie is literally about how we need to keep changing.

- Spinel is in no way responsible for her abuse, and I feel so much for her, but it’s also not an excuse for her to hurt others. Pink Diamond doesn’t get a full reprieve because of the messed up way she was raised, and Spinel shouldn’t get one either.

- It also wasn’t Steven’s responsibility for Spinel to be okay; when he moved on to solve more problems after she deactivated her weapon, this was fine and understandable. We can’t be responsible for other people’s actions or decisions, no matter how much we want to help them. It’s not a healthy relationship for one person to be the only reason the other person doesn’t blow up.

- Steg is a really cool design for some people. It might not be your thing and that’s okay; enjoy the cool redesigns out there! But also just let people enjoy it. I get the icky area of it being a fusion of father and son when taken in …certain ways… but it is just a design of a fictional adult man with an adult v/o so let people find it attractive/fun/cool. People might get weird with it, but this is the internet and that will happen, so you can just let it go and ignore/avoid it.

- CN used “True Kinda of Love” as the main song of the movie during promotion instead of “Other Friends” so they could both showcase their singer actress and keep the main themes of the show while not having any spoilers. Yes, a lot of fans like “Other Friends” better, but it would’ve been spoilery as hell. They very much know how good it is, it’s not a surprise to them that it was a hit.

- Jasper wasn’t in the film and this isn’t really a hot take I just want more development on her.
