Sketches of Aeneas and Palamedes
Warning: blood, bruises, and implied murder (mentioned as a gag, but discretion is advised to anyone who has petrophobia)
Don't Forget Me
More scenes from the 1977 film, "Iphigenia." This is when Iphigenia is about to head to the altar, but Achilles comes to assure he'll be there for her.
A sweet moment that shows Iphigenia's courage to honor her sacrifice for a noble cause. Who knows what kind of relationship Achilles and Iphigenia might have under a different circumstance.
Design notes and references:
I was supposed to finish a practice sketch of nouveau art for mother's day.
Originally, the picture was going to include flowers such as tulips, roses, and lilies.
Here's Pieris holding a bouquet of tulips with her little companion.

I was searching for some inspiration, and I came across this lovely song.
Sappho's, "Moonlight Song," also known as Midnight Poem or Fragment 168B.
The poem was performed with a lyre, and sung in ancient Greek by Lina Palera. The English version was sung by Gloria Endres de Oliveira.
Sappho's original poem:
Δέδυκε μὲν ἀ σελάννα καὶ Πληΐαδες, μέσαι δὲ νύκτες, πάρα δ' ἔρχετ' ὤρα, ἔγω δὲ μόνα κατεύδω
English translation:
The moon and the Pleiades have set,
it is midnight,
the time is passing,
and I sleep alone
I might do a Helen or a Cassandra art piece based on this song. Maybe I will lean more into Hecuba and Cassandra, or Leto and Artemis.
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on who's the first person you can think of when you listen to the music?
Behold, his Majesty, Chipmemnon of Mycenae.
There will be more chipmunks.

These are sketches of Cassandra in Hittite fashion.
I'm going to color her clothes soon, and find jewelry for her.

Achilles Sketches
Ohhh so like central cheterochromia iridis? Hmm not bad idea too! Like I can also imagine in your scenario but boy someone got inspired by our latest conversation!!! 👀👀👀👀👀
💬 22 🔁 11 ❤️ 32 · Achilles with green eyes this, Achilles with blue eyes that but can't help thinking the potential of Philostratus's ambe
Man Achilles would definitely have stunning eyes! It is good that we do have that all in mind! Achilles is definitely the pretty boi! Hahaha no matter what someone decides for his design!
Now I even imagine that as a child the blue in his eyes prevails like many babies and young children have bluish eyes and as he matures the amber prevails. Maybe most portion of it now looks amber but you do look in his eyes and see the stunning blue around it too! I really like that interpretation! Not to mention what you say about the cosmic forces and all haha
Also man I really loved how you got inspired by the pupil of the eye that dilates with emotjons to interpret the "darkness covered his eyes" because yes we know that the eyes "darken" because of the brow shadowing them and all but also it is proven I believe that the pupil can also dilate as well so
(image from the Journal of Anxiety Disorders, June 2019)
yeah that also makes so much sense and it is so poetic! This also reminds me of the famous comparison of Death Note between Kira and Light aka between the pre-corrupt teenager's mentality and post-corrupt phsychology
(yeah this is a manga so in the story the panels are read from right to left but man it fits now doesn't it? Hahaha)
Why does everything roll back to Homer in my mind?! Hahaha Anyways that is a great observation to make! So yes this interpretation for his eyes and eye color is also sooooo delicious to ignore! I also love the details you placed in his eyes and the iris colors!
As for the hair hahaha the untamable and wavy hair of Achilles surely is legendary! I loved the interpretations of it across the art in the world especially some 19th century sculptures like Dying Achilles in Corfu!
💬 14 🔁 13 ❤️ 61 · Some images from Achillion in Kerkyra from my time when I went there in the recent past (the restoration of the statues
I so love the fluffy hair of that boy! Hahaha And yes I admit your design with his hair in ponytail is really interesting! We do have ponytails in mycenaean murals albeit in the base of the nape
but I also like some minoan men murals where the men have half their hair caught up in a small bun on top of their head
so Achilles being Achilles might as well have something that combines them hahaha besides men in later years also had hairstyles that thug their hair under their band so that works too!
So many possibilities!! And yeah those small braids would look good on Achilles! I bet he would use colorful strings and all to keep his hair out of the way albeit stylish! Hahaha
Hahaha yes your recent blog reminded me to take the opportunity to consider my design for Achilles.

The Odyssey - Wedding Bedroom Idea
When we talk about the wedding bed of Odysseus and Penelope this is probably what most people are thinking of.
I've seen plenty of wonderful artists draw their own take on the wedding bed.
But then I thought, why don't I come up with my own version?
So I have a few random ideas of how I want their wedding bed and their bedroom to look like.
This is again based on my interpretation.
I'm not necessarily following the book's description, nor going for accuracy on ancient Greek architecture.
So picture this:
