So, I watched The Odyssey and I get what Nolan was trying to convey through the choice to depict Helen and Clytemnestra as identical twins: If there is a woman who looks exactly like Helen, then the war was never really about her. It was about Agamemnon and his ambitions. This also implies that she didn't leave with Paris because Aphrodite made her do so and that it was not an abduction so we can assume that the contest about the golden apple where Paris chose Aphrodite didn't happen here either. Much like how we are expected to go all 'Oh that's why it is like that!' when it is revealed that the 'Athena' who appears to Odysseus in his visions resembles a priestess he saw getting killed in front of him during the siege of Troy. It was a way for Chris "I won't embrace magic and the supernatural even when the plot is begging for it and I am being held at gunpoint" Nolan to have his cake and eat it too. The problem is.....it was painfully predictable. Anyone who is familiar with his style could see it coming from a distance.
