i do wish the response to the ai water usage concern debate (umm actually the water and mineral usage is roughly equivalent to all of our other constantly growing massive distributed information systems that require enormous amounts of resource extraction etc etc etc) was less of a "haha checkmate luddites" and more of a "hmm maybe we should reevaluate our usage of constantly growing massive distributed information systems that require enormous amounts of resource extraction" but idk
I have bad social skills and I hate getting attention. I wish there was a way to do organizing and/or volunteer work that didn't involve having to constantly yell "Hey everyone, look at me!!" Oh well, I guess it's just part of the game. The work needs to get done and if nobody else wants to do it then it'll have to be me.

forget everything anyone has ever told you on the matter the truest marker of adulthood is starting to hear the siren call of high quality kitchenware
to be clear you SHOULD buy that cast iron pan and you SHOULD buy that knife set and you SHOULD buy that fancy rice cooker and you SHOULD buy that novelty mug. high quality kitchenware is always worth it youβre literally gonna be using that almost every day
You know how we call things "pseudoscience"... the media analysis that's being done on twitter and tumblr should be pseudohumanities

I'm almost at the end of this book. There's a great account of the US subprime mortgage bubble, but much of the book is about the subsequent Eurozone Crisis. The woes of that Eurozone Crisis are largely blamed on Angela Merkel's Germany, whose conservative coalition pushed back hard on any collective European financial program that would've adequately addressed the crisis. Instead, the countries that were hit hardest by the financial crisis were forced to accept harsh austerity programs to pay for debts, which strangled their already struggling economies.
In short, the "solutions" to the crisis consisted of cutting necessary public funding everywhere so that rich investors who owned government bonds would get their full payments. Austerity programs like this are a recessionary pressure that cut against any recovery from the crisis. So, for most regular people the economy never fully recovered from the crisis and now here we are.
