I HATE when people write PHM fics and make Ryland act like a child. No— not like childish or with child-like wonder whimsy and joy, but a straight up child. He is a GROWN ADULT MAN— he called someone a staggering waste of carbon and said no to Stratt’s face several times. He piloted a whole spaceship with no memory and saved the universe, but yeah, let’s make the guy a baby-man who everyone needs to protect because he’s just a baby waby. Sthu. Soo annoying.

A character can have child-like whimsy and still be a functioning, deep person. Infantilization at its finest.
