“Hey, Simon! Sorry I missed lunch. Is there anything you wanted to d— oh.” Mark’s usual speaking voice quickly turned to a whisper as he walked in and saw Simon on top of the bed covers, taking a nap.

He quietly got on the bed himself and sat next to Simon, watching as his chest rose and fell with every unconscious breath.

He was so cute when he was able to sleep peacefully like this.

Simon was turned on his left side, the stump of his arm peeking out from under him, and his right hand resting next to his head on the pillow. His mouth was open ever-so-slightly, and his fluffy curly hair fell softly across his face. Mark couldn’t help but smile.

He instinctively tucked some of Simon’s loose hair behind his ear. Simon shuddered in his sleep, causing Mark to giggle silently. He let out a dreamy sigh.

Simon’s hair had always been one of his prettiest features. Everything about Simon was beautiful, of course, but his hair in particular was especially attractive. Something about the way it bounced lightly with every step Simon took, or the way it framed his face, or its loose curls… Mark just loved it.

He couldn’t stop himself. He started playing with it. Twirling it around his finger, but not too tightly, so as to avoid pulling on Simon’s scalp and waking him up with pain. He gently picked some up and watched it fall across his face again, then re-brushed it behind his ear. He slowly ran his fingers through it. There wasn’t a single tangle to be felt.

He took his gloves off and did that again. Simon’s hair was remarkably soft, despite the oily sheen it carried. Upon further inspection, it was also slightly moist and cool.

Mark leaned down and carefully brought a lock to his nose. Simon’s hair smelled freshly of rose petals.

Of course. He must have just gotten out of the shower.

He let the lock of hair fall from his hand onto Simon’s cheek. Simon let out a heavy exhale, and Mark smiled even wider.

I love you so much.

Simon looked so peaceful and comfy that Mark started to consider taking a nap as well. He had been working pretty hard all morning. He could probably use one himself.

He yawned, as though his body was agreeing with his thoughts.

He picked up another thin lock of hair and twirled it around his finger again. He didn’t actually get the chance to tenderly play with Simon’s hair like this very often, so he wanted to savor it before succumbing to his sudden drowsiness. He let the strands fall and ran his fingers through it once more. Then he brushed it behind his ear one last time before lying down next to him.

Once he pulled his hand away, Simon’s eyes fluttered open.

“…Mark?” He asked groggily. Mark smiled again.

“Hey, sleepyhead,” he purred. “Your hair smells nice.”

Simon blinked a few times in tired confusion.

“…What?”

Mark giggled and sat up just enough to plant a kiss on the side of Simon’s head. The damp hair left his lips feeling cool. He placed his left hand on top of Simon’s right.

“Mind if I join you?”

Simon blinked a few more times, then slipped his hand out from underneath Mark’s. He grabbed Mark’s hand and huffed before closing his eyes once more.

“Sure.”

“I love you.”
