Based on The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. This is the Sherlock version. There’s going to be one illustration for each stanza which you can find at the #highwayman tag, and later collected in a fanbook.

If I don't screw this reblog thing up... This has been my all-time favorite poem since 4th or 5th grade, when we had to memorize a poem for class. All the others did short, easy ones--I did the first half of The Highwayman. I was listening to Loreena McKennit's version on the way to work this morning and thought wow, I'd love to see somebody do a Sherlock version, and here it is! I sort of used the poem in a OUATIM story I wrote a few years back. I love different interpretations like this--yes, I know about the short story collection. I can't wait to see where this goes!

I don't know about you folks, but for me it was years before any of you were even born. Luckily I managed to escape their evil clutches when my comic pusher moved away about ten or so years ago.

Now Sherlock owns my soul. I *think* that's better?

I’ve been sooo angry at my Target for taking out the plus-size section and making a gigantic maternity area. Like it was tiny to begin with- whyyyyyy????

But discovered my Nordstrom Rack has a nice plus-size clearance section. So yay?

My biggest issue is clothing and...

Last year when I was looking for a fancy dress for a fancy event, a friend suggested I try Dressbarn. I hadn't realized that half their store is plus size, or that they have some gorgeous (and affordable) clothes. I found my dress--and a lot of other things too. I *love* their clothes. My only warning is that the 1X and 2X sizes are smaller than the norm--I usually get 22/24 tops, which is a 2X with them. Check their website. Great great place!

Testing...testing...

I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, because I don't post to tumblr. I'm trying now because something has been bothering me an absolutely stupid amount of lot for the past couple of months, and I want to say it someplace, and I'm guessing this is the best place since nobody will read it here. But first...

Happy birthday, Benedict, wherever you are. I hope your day is as half as wonderful as you are.

The Thing That's Bothering Me (and I should probably toss in a spoiler alert for the second series of Sherlock): There's been all this chatter and speculation about what John will do when Sherlock suddenly turns up and is all "hi, ha ha, I wasn't dead" (in his Sherlockian way, of course). Most folks seem to think John's going to be furious--that punching Sherlock will be the least violent reaction. Mr. M and Mr. G have even hinted at that. And yes, I can understand why he'd be angry, but would that be his first reaction, or a reaction later? I think later.

Sir ACD's John was overjoyed to see his friend again, never got mad at him for the deception, let things go right back to the way they were before. Okay, fine. I know. It's different--Holmes didn't force Watson to watch him allegedly kill himself, for starters. But I can't help thinking about folks I've lost. If my mother suddenly turned up and said "hi, ha ha, I know you sat with me for six weeks watching me die, but it was a joke, I did it to save you and Rob, and now I'm back good as new," I don't think my first reaction would be to punch her in the nose or get mad at her. I think I'd be so damn happy to have her back that I could forgive her anything and everything. And yes, I know--it's different--but the man we saw at the start/end of The Reichenbach Fall was grieving for someone he obviously cared for/loved very much, and his first reaction should be overwhelming joy. I'm going to be very disappointed if he doesn't hug Sherlock and cry...and then stop and think about it and punch him in the nose.

And that's my two cents worth, and I feel better now, thanks, tumblr.

I feel incredibly ridiculous for being even a little upset about this--and even more incredibly ridiculous for writing it down here--but does anyone else think next week may be the end of the line for MJN? Maybe it's just me, but I think the scripts are pointing that way, either to a finale for the show or a cliffhanger that Moffat and Gatiss would be proud to call their own.
