i dont understand how someone could straight up hate any bfdi characters, yeah i get hating their actions and such and also disliking nothing characters like 8-ball (assuming he'll never get development) but other than that the cast is pretty rock solid. i'll see people hate characters like book and ill be like ??? did we even watch the same show? do you hate book just because she made it so far in bfdia?? you know its not because she's sympathy bait right? she has a compelling arc with freesmart (being mistreated and such) and she's just overall a fun character, not just "kind." "this is the worst final 2 we could've gotten (referring to bfdia)" ok but explain how, do you just think needle and book are boring somehow? or are you just mad that they made it further than characters you like more? do you think they're overrated?? (also of course the most popular characters make it to the end???) honestly i've noticed a trend where the characters people tend to hate are women, think about it. Book, Needle, Pencil, Pin, etc. (all have compelling arcs, again, book being mistreated, needle constantly trying to work for other people before deciding she wants to win for herself, pin losing her limbs face and size and being mistreated so much she goes full on villain, pencil has SO MUCH going on that i cant even begin to explain it.) and then the praised characters are characters like coiny, tennis ball, fries, nickel, etc. (not saying these characters dont have compelling arcs!! they do!! i love them!! coiny especially has a good arc with wanting things to go back to how they were in BFDIA, fries and nickel are just funny, tennis ball is also a fun character.)
i know the community is mostly children, but the older people in the fandom definitely need to learn.. to like women characters?? this is classic example of men ignoring women characters and claiming they're boring because said men are misogynistic and they dont even realize it. i used to have internalized misogyny and thought most women characters were "boring" too (not with bfdi, other pieces of media) but i grew and changed. if you take away anything from this, learn to appreciate women characters. sorry for going on a semi-rant i kind of just, kept typing and it ended up as this, this has been on my mind for a while now though.
