everything seems to be up in the air at this point

not that the process of changing will be altogether pleasant, there are a lot of ways that i’m currently reliant on the stuff i’m proposing cutting out of my life, but as we adjust to change, things that were normalized stop being viewed as acceptable, in this case (for example) the degree to which tech companies exact influence over my (our) behavior and thoughts, and the availability of personal data

i think we have to embrace similar unpleasant growing pains on a larger scale so that we can create a better world, a process that is painfully urgent and not aided by online in the slightest

a.) spend time in different ways, read more, do things that are actively engaging that i enjoy or which are important

b.) reduce the portion of my experience in the world that is filtered through templates designed by tech companies

c.) stop forking over data to tech companies and third parties (at least ‘as much’ since it’s really hard to do that unfortunately lol)

I do like using tumblr (some of the time anyway) & I do like blogging with you all :) so if you want to dm we can figure out a way to keep in touch (email, text, etc) but I’m prob going to delete this blog at some point soon-ish. I hope being more offline is like the first step in a series of changes in what I spend time and energy on, hopefully a series of changes that includes things like sleep schedule, focus, time spent reading, learning, and like, doing stuff. but for better or worse I’ve been on and off tumblr for 12 years at this point so I guess there’s always a chance I return…

1.
