Uhhhh Should I release the story? Sneak Peek
Strange came across many oddities in life, known the bailout of fate and the conversions of what someone expects. He thought he finally got used to it, that like the shifts in the hospital when he was still an intern then turned to famous surgeon, he'd also get used to the mystics of life.
So why... Why is his hands shaking? Unable to execute something he had done for years already, all because the end of one of his portals is a still body of a child. A child he grew fond of, a skittering arachnid with its nimble limbs making its way to his heart whenever he talks with much enthusiasm and hope, magical in a way that his own spells could never replicate.
Peter Parker is dead, limp and his body still than it should be, Strange's denial rejects his attempts to wield itβfor that child couldn't stay still for the life of himβa clarity that sits uncomfortably at the pit of his stomach.
Cute headcanon for the Robins and their names :DDD
Richard whose name means "Powerful Leader" a blessing for his teams but a burden for him, always playing Atlas shouldering the world.
Jason whose name means "To heal" but he still mourns the person he used to be. Peter whose name means "Stone", supposedly keeping Bruce grounded but it became a burden instead.
Timothy whose name means "Honoring God" because he still carries the responsibility to honor those he hero worships, hoping to be like them. Jackson whose name means "God is Gracious" because he's literally the redemption, therefore gift to Gotham from preventing Batman from spiraling. Because Batman is Gracious.
Stephanie whose name means "Crown" because heavy is the crown, therefore responsibilities everyone expects her to carry but still undermine her for it. Elizabeth whose name means "God is my oath, devotion" because she's still her father's daughter, devoting her life to finding himβchasing after her own creator.
Duke whose name means "Commander or leader", leading when the city needed hope. Duke that's a slang for fists because it's all he's ever known from where he came from.
Damian whose name means "To tame" because they believed he was some beast that needed to be tamed. A savage dog that pretends to be domesticated. The grandson of the Demon Head that plans to follow that path.
I can totally see Damian in a relationship, could be platonically or romantically, with an older teen, like a year or two older. Damian's always about trying to find a companion that can match him but it would be nicer if it's someone that can balance him out. Someone with heavy empathy but also logical enough for him to respect and listen to. Bonus points if they are a popular kid in the school and helps Damian learn social interactions. And it would be funny if they are taller for now and then suddenly when Damian goes through growth spurt they tower over them.
Out of everything I sent here, this is the one I can't explain properly. Like I have a lot of things I want to say but can't form to words and explain the why and how I came up with this conclusion. But mostly, it might be because of that one matchmaker Korean series I watched with a younger Crown Prince with someone older, and I genuinely found their dynamic cute and they do balance but also match each other and my brain went, "Huh, this feels like Damian in a way."
I think get what you're trying to describe, and I don't think it's really about the age gap itself, it's more of the dynamic.
Damian spends so much of his life trying to prove that he's the smartest, strongest, most capable person in the room. A lot of stories pair him with someone who matches that intensity by challenging him head-on. That's fun, but it can also become a constant contest.
I think that someone that can ground him instead of competing with him fits him better.
Someone who's emotionally intelligent enough to call him out without humiliating him. Someone who's compassionate without being naive, and logical enough that Damian can't dismiss them as soft. They don't win arguments by shouting louder, but because they make him stop and think. I think Damian would actually respect that.
And the popular kid angle is cute too because it creates a contrast!! Damian has attended the same school for months and still refers to half his classmates as the loud one, the one who chews loudly, and that boy. Meanwhile, the popular kid is trying to at least get him to memorize the name of his desk partner lol.
I also like the image of them being older and taller at first. For a while, Damian is secretly annoyed that he has to look up to talk to them. Then he hits a ridiculous Wayne/al Ghul growth spurt. He'd absolutely bring it up every opportunity for at least six months.
I also think an older teen could give Damian something he doesn't often get: permission to just be fourteen. Not in a patronizing way, but in a 'you're allowed to make mistakes, you're allowed to be awkward, you're allowed to not have everything figured out' way.
Bruce, Dick, and the others often interact with Damian through the lens of family history, expectations, or training. Someone outside that bubble could help him build an identity that's just... Damian, not Robin, not Batmanβs son, not Ra's al Ghul's grandson.
I think that's what your Korean drama reminded you of. Those kinds of pairings often work because the older character isn't there to overshadow the younger one. They provide stability. The younger character still has agency and competence, but they finally have someone who doesn't escalate every conversation into a duel.
Y'know what would be funny but has potential for angst? Damian x Reader and the reader is a journalist, the type of journalist that does their job like they are all "journalist integrity" and all the glorified bs that we were told about when I first started. So they are all Truth and just the truth. Now here's the catch, for some reason, because reader has a very good perception of things, whenever her articles feel like there's more to it, she investigates, and she always falls down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories that she PROVES RIGHT. And the problem with this is because this makes her a target, because she's casually name dropping people in her articles and going on absolute detail about everything she found out.
And this happens ALL THE TIME, so now Damian, who is totally not Robin btw, is absolutely stressed. He doesn't want to risk his identity being exposed and always had to pretend that Robin is totally not following her, he just changed routes! Crazy coincidence!
Because of this, you'd casually see a teen snooping around and in the background, Robin is fighting goons while said teen remains oblivious. He makes sure not even a strand of Reader's hair is touched and he gets so stressed and reader is basically the only one who can make him pull the "biting my fist because I can't put my energy into violence" motion whenever they get into trouble.
So the next day, Reader would boast to Damian, "Told you I wouldn't get caught!" While Damian looks at them like they grew two heads.
Additionally, because of Damian getting involved with reader and their investigations, he always gets to the crime scene first before the other Batfam, and he gets credits of, "Good job for seeing this early." And low-key, Tim would be confused and a bit nervous, because suddenly Damian is finding out these crimes by "himself" and sometimes even finding some that never went under his radar as well. So Tim would feel, "Damn, the only thing I'm good at and now Damian's getting better than me, is my purpose truly gone?"
Meanwhile Damian is absolutely crashing out because he's losing sleep then suddenly his lover just texted that they are going to investigate a new store that seems like a front, so sleep deprived Damian runs there because Reader is there and he doesn't want to ever be too late and lose them.
Damian hoping for at least ONCE Reader would rest from their investigations: π«©π *doing the biggest sigh and then screaming*
(I can't upload photos)
I LOVE IT!!! Reader isn't even trying to be reckless. They're just... really good at their job.
And Damian, the poor guy is running on two hours of sleep because every time Reader says: I'm just checking something out!, he hears: I'm about to wander into another criminal organization without backup. So now Robin has somehow become Gotham's most overworked bodyguard.
The Batfamily thinks Damian has suddenly become incredibly proactive. Tim is sitting there questioning his entire existence because HOW does Damian keep finding these hidden operations before everyone else?? Bruce is very proud but also concerned.
Meanwhile Damian is internally screaming because his 'advanced detective work' is literally just following his journalist partner around and desperately preventing them from becoming tomorrow's headline.
I just know Alfred would eventually notice Damian's sleep schedule getting progressively worse and think there's some new Robin-level threat in Gotham, but nope. His grandson is just dating the most dangerously competent investigative journalist in the city.
Poor Damian ππ

GG you won't believe what I accidentally did! It wasn't even my intention. So for context, I have an outcasted oc, and I'm so used to drawing her pale that I forgot that I use dark green for her hair, since drawing her hair total black is difficult for shading. And I suddenly decided to try coloring her with natural colors, some sort of what if, what if she stayed with her maternal family at southeast Asia and got to bathe in sunlight, unlike *ahem* Gotham *ahem* and gave back her melanin. Then it HIT me that, "Damn, no wonder people in Gotham avoid her despite being a Wayne." If her hair gets hit by light at a certain angle HER HAIR IS CLOSE TO JOKER'S SHADE OF GREEN.
I didn't even think of it this way, due to always making her paler, the green would look black, so by coloring her with her natural tone, it makes the green pop a bit.
So maybe, it is more subtle, but people are genuinely uncomfortable with her and they can't point out WHY, subconsciously being wary because of the hair color. Sounds stupid, but people react to different triggers, especially those who actually faced the Joker. So imagine you are having fun at a cafe with friends and volunteered to be in line and order, then you stare at the person in front of you in line and suddenly feel uncomfy but can't quite place why.
Damn, I am low-key making her suffer more and it's not me actively doing it...
Such a good accidental detail omfg
And it makes perfect sense psychologically too. People in Gotham would absolutely have subconscious reactions to certain visual triggers tied to trauma, especially something as distinct as that specific shade of green. Like they may not consciously think βJoker,β but their brain registers danger before they can even explain it.
Which makes it even sadder because she probably has no idea why people seem slightly off around her. Just that thereβs always this weird hesitation, discomfort, distance. Like people WANT to like her because sheβs polite or harmless or literally just standing there, but something in them keeps pulling back.
And the worst part is that itβs not even fair. She hasnβt done anything wrong, but Gotham is the type of city where people project trauma onto symbols all the time.
WHY ARE YOU MAKING HER SUFFER SO MUCH OH MY GOD (i love it-)
Hiii I made a cute and wholesome ask for you about the Robins!
Richard who's name means "Powerful Leader" a blessing for his teams but a burden for him, always playing Atlas shouldering the world.
Jason who's name means "To heal" but he still mourns the person he used to be. Peter who's name means "Stone", supposedly keeping Bruce grounded but it became being a burden instead.
Timothy who's name means "Honoring God" because he still carries the responsibility to honor those he hero worships, hoping to be like them. Jackson who's name means "God is Gracious" because he's literally the redemption, therefore gift to Gotham from preventing Batman from spiraling. Because Batman is Gracious.
Stephanie who's name means "Crown" because heavy is the crown, therefore responsibilities everyone expects her to carry but still undermine her for it. Elizabeth who's name means "God is my oath, devotion" because she's still her father's daughter, devoting her life finding him.
Damian who's name means "To tame" because they believed he was some best needed to be tamed. A savage dog that is acting domesticated.
Uhhh Pikmin :3 ilysm GG π·
This is actually so pretty ππ
Richard being βPowerful Leaderβ and it turning into him constantly carrying everything for everyone else tracks a little too well. It starts as a blessing and slowly becomes something he canβt put down even if he wanted to.
Jason though? βto heal" is actually insane. Because he does, just not in the way people expect. And at the same time heβs still grieving himself? yeah okay that one hurt. And Peter being βstoneβ, Bruceβs anchor but also something heavy he has to carry?? THE DUAL MEANING-
Timothy, I love because itβs so him to carry that quiet pressure of 'I have to live up to this'. Honoring something bigger than himself, even if it eats at him a bit. Jackson as βGod is graciousβ being tied to him preventing Bruce from completely spiraling- I need a moment-
Stephanie βthe crownβ, say less. Heavy is the crown AND people still donβt take her seriously. Sheβs carrying expectations and still having to prove herself at the same time. Elizabeth for her too!! The devotion tied to her father? FUCKING HELL-
And Damian βto tameβ is CRAZY. Itβs not even who he is, itβs what people decided he needed to become. He was labeled something wild and then forced into a mold. FUCK IM CRYIng
This is actually such a cool way to look at them!! I LOVE IT!!
And ily too πβ¨
Fantasy AU in a way:
Neglected reader that's shunned by both family and public but it's literally just them unable to thrive because while all their siblings could fly, they swim. While they all have wings, they have a tail. They can't thrive in Gotham because the waters could harm them, the air harms them, they are slowly loosing their color and now they look unattractive with how pale they got. With them slowly growing weaker, they lose all their potential, "Supposed to be prettier" "Supposed to be elegant" "Supposed to be talented" but because all they can feel is the numbing pain of not being thrown back to clean waters they can't do anything but slowly become "lazy" "pathetic" "worthless"
But if they did manage to have some way to have clean waters because of the Manor since they are wealthy like that, it also doesn't matter because they stick out like a sore thumb, everyone has pretty feathers while they have gills and scales, they look so out of place that Gothamites don't even know what to do with reader because they look so different from the rest.
Literally Chemtrails over Country Club reader coded
"You're in the Wind" Batfam
"I'm in the Water" "Nobody's Son, Nobody's Daughter" Reader
Notice how I'm just sending angst your way?
Why did you just hand me emotional damage like this????
The whole point is that theyβre not failing, theyβre literally just in the wrong environment and no one realizes it. everyoneβs like 'why canβt you fly?' meanwhile theyβre DYING because theyβre meant to be in watER-
Like imagine visibly getting worse and instead of concern people are just like 'they used to be so prettyβ¦' HELLO???
Also, trying to βfixβ it with like pools and stuff but it still feeling wrong??? like congrats you built them a tank π theyβre not living theyβre being KEPT.
AND THE SONG??? Is actually insane btw. Like that alone carries the whole thing. Yeah youβre SICK for that. Because itβs not even always active neglect, itβs just they canβt include them the same way, so they slowly stop trying. And now youβve got someone who doesnβt belong anywhere, not even in their own family.
The worst part is that if someone just took them somewhere they actually belong, theyβd probably thrive. Like everything people said they 'werenβt' would suddenly be there. But no, theyβre stuck in gotham. so they just keep getting worse.
Anyway thanks i hate it (keep going)
Okay- now that I have your attention with the JonDami ask that I gave you. I propose JonDami with a Apollo/Hyacinthus dynamic! Hear me out on this cuz: Jon gets his powers from the sun, he's technically in a power scale of a god or demigod and is obviously deferring from a human which Damian is. And technically both can manipulate solar energy or the light of it in a way. Both can be considered all hearing/seeing in a way, Apollo is a minor god of Justice (Specifically a law maker) and Jon is all about justice. Both are made with the best of each of their parents, Jon has his father's pure heart, compassion and his mother's feistiness, inquisitive nature, while Apollo has his mother's gentle nature, kindness, and willingness to sacrifice and father's wise, intelligence, and pettiness (please don't smite me Lord Apollo and Zeus). Both are known for their optimism and always looking forward. Both have connections to the future in a wat, Lord Apollo with being the God of Prophecy and Jon with being Tomorrow Man.
Now unto Damian, both him and Hyacinthus are technically Princes and both are aligned with war/violence, respectively, Prince of LoS and Prince of Sparta, both are actually capable of handling themselves despite being the one without powers because they lean more with combat. Did you know both of them are snarky despite Hyacinthus being known for being this optimistic person? Both are also known to be softer with animals and nature and despite being raised through violence they chose a form of art as their hobby (art and music, Damian and Hyacinthus respectively)
Yet both ships have a very stark contrast in regards mortality rate with both Damian and Hyacinthus possibly dying (I mean- they did die WHO SAID THAT) more plausible than Jon and Apollo.
As much as Jon and Damian parallel Apollo and Hyacinthus by fate and characteristics, it's vice versa when it comes to their family life. Damian and Apollo has married parents that rarely see each other and has multiple siblings, while Jon and Hyacinthus has parents who love each other and only has few siblings. Another similar thing with Jon and Hyacinthus is that they are always over shone by their partner, there's rarely stuff about Hyacinthus that's not being about Apollo's lover and even if Jon has his own comics about him, they're rarely talked about and they only refer to him as Damian's bsf. While there's lots of things about Apollo and Damian, always being talked about.
YOU KNOW IM A SUCKER FOR GREEK MYTHS!!!
Starting with Jon Kent as an Apollo parallel makes a lot of sense. Itβs the type of presence they have. Theyβre both tied to light in a way that feels guiding, almost directional (justice, future, prophecy, that sense of βI see where this is going and I want to lead it somewhere better.β) And like you said, theyβre built as these composites of their parentsβ best traits, which makes them feel intentional. Like they were meant to be something.
But that also comes with the subtle narrative weight you pointed out: they tend to be the ones remembered, centered, talked about.
Then you put Damian Wayne next to Hyacinthus and it gets interesting. Because on the surface, yeah, war-aligned upbringing, royalty, combat capability, all of that fits. But the part that really stands is that contrast between how theyβre perceived vs who they actually are.
Hyacinthus gets flattened into Apolloβs beloved, when in reality he had his own identity, his own culture, his own life before the tragedy. Damian gets flattened into 'the violent one' or 'the assassin kid', when heβs also the one who paints, who cares for animals, who chooses softness despite everything he was raised in.
And yeah, the mortality angle is where it HURTS- Because with Apollo and Hyacinthus, the imbalance is inevitable. God and mortal was always going to end in loss. Applying that to Jon and Damian and it adds this underlying tension, even if it never plays out the same way.
And the family dynamic flip is also a really nice catch. That inversion keeps the parallel from feeling one-to-one and instead makes it feel like a reflection. Same shapes, different angles.
Would it be funny if I made a one-shot or short series where the Reader always has Damian tagging along with her and her girlfriends because Bruce instructed him to always be near his big sister whenever they are at school or if she goes to the mall, albeit he hates hanging out with them? After all, it's just rich girls and flexing each other's Gucci bags or something. Still, they accidentally adopt Damian as their baby brother, and now Damian is always fawned over and being spoiled rotten by [Name] and her friends. They always make sure he is involved in their convos and activities, even teaching him stuff.
A sports chic friend is going to play basketball or badminton? Suddenly, Damian knows how to play it as well.
The art girls are painting? They reserve an extra easel for Damian to use.
They are having a movie date and voting on which movie to watch? Damian's vote counts too.
They are baking or cooking together? He's their taste tester.
They are going to the mall to shop? Damian has a separate budget for himself that the others pitched in to spoil him, and they pick out his clothes and fawn over how handsome their little brother looks in the clothes they picked.
They are having a sleepover? Damian gets his hair curled and a bit of manicure, too.
It gets to the point that he doesn't want some random jock he finds 'unworthy' to court or date his big sisters and scares them off. The only setbacks in this arrangement are that he sometimes has to carry all their shopping bags because their feet hurt from walking around in heels, and he gets left alone outside the girls' public restroom. At the same time, he can hear them gossiping inside, and there isn't a day that they all get together and fawn over him, and last but not least, he sometimes has to manage his big sisters during their periods- bonus points if they all had their periods on sync and he's in too much stress.
STOPPPP ππ THIS IS SO FUNNY AND SO CUTE AT THE SAME TIME-
Bruce giving Damian a mission like: βProtect your sister.β And Damian ends up getting kidnapped by the girl squad instead, its sending me holy shit.
And the girls spoiling him rotten??? The extra budget. The easel. The fact that the sports girl would literally be like βcβmon little man, Iβll teach you how to serve.β Itβs so wholesome Iβm gonna SCREAAAMMMM
Also the visual of Damian standing outside the bathroom like a BODYGUARD while hearing them gossip inside???? Heβs probably texting Bruce like: βFather. They have been in there for 17 minutes. They are discussing a boy named Ethan. He sounds unworthy.β
AND THE PERIODS ON SYNC?? He would be fighting for his LIFE.
You absolutely should write this because I need to see Damian becoming the emotional support baby brother of a bunch of rich Gotham girls. The chaos potential is too powerful to ignore.

I suddenly had this very EVIL thought, a diabolical level one. Imagine a Neglected Reader that looks so much like her Grandmother Martha, even has the same mannerisms when she was younger. Of course, no one in the family knows how Martha really was. Because Bruce's perception of her is as his mother, so what Martha's friends/those who knows see her vs. Bruce's is very different.
Out of pure spite and pettiness, she suddenly dressed up with her own pearls and pink dress. It's subtle, a different fashion style but has this almost similar color of fabric, and her pearls are smaller too. And then she would pull a "Oh, me and my boyfriend are going to watch a movie with our Puppy!" A jab because a baby bat is literally called a puppy, miss girl is just recreating the batman origin story but with her medical student bf and their black puppy π
She doesn't stop from there, she sometimes even purposely goes to crowds that Martha is known for just to make sure that Bruce can hear people talk, "Oh she's so sweet, like our dear friend Martha when she was still alive."
Sometimes she would be caught staring in Martha's portrait and when Bruce approaches, she would hit the same pose as the one in the picture just to eagerly wait for the life of her dad flash before his eyes and then pull a: "Father, I want to donate to charity when I grow up." Because that's what Martha does.
Despite doing stuff out of audacity and mischief, she actually idolizes her grandmother a lot, wanting to continue a legacy of changing Gotham without resorting to violence.
ohhhhh NO because this is so evil but alsoβ¦ so funny π
Like the level of psychological warfare here is UNMATCHED. this isnβt petty, this is straight up genealogical terrorism LMAOOOO-
And Bruce just standing there like: π«© His entire nervous system shutting down every two seconds. He's aging 20 years every time she breathes smh.
Sheβs mischievous, dramatic, petty, and absolutely iconic. Martha would be PROUD!!!
Was scrolling through my old notes and stumbled upon 13 year old me's work, and holy, where did that come from??? I don't know if you're familiar with both fandoms, so I'll just explain what they're about... one of them, Inazuma Eleven- is a soccer anime, the og blue lock, with power ups and stuff. While Kokonoi Hajime is a character from another anime where there are gang fights and tine traveling stuff happening. Kokonoi's a very great money earner, his greed sickens me. I think I came up with the idea when I got curious why the characters in the Inazuma Eleven anime seemed to be self sufficient and searched what a soccer player's salary is. Then when I saw the numbers, I quickly went, "Damn, Kokonoi from TR would want this job, it earns money."
Inazuma Eleven x Kokonoi Hajime! Reader
They didn't really intend to go back to school that day, but after a few rival gangs coming after them, Taiju ordered them to stay low. Out of the sheer boredom they felt after being home for more days than they knew they could easily cash out, they became desperate enough to actually plan out their education, I mean- it's the further route to earning money, but their money earning delusions are telling them that they may or may not get a scholarship that they could milk dry to their pockets (never gonna happen by the way).
Upon entering their room, they were struck by the pristine cleanliness and the tranquil atmosphere, contrasting with the casual chatter of their peers blending in with their friends. They viewed them all as naive, oblivious to the harsh realities of the world. Though they refrained from judgment, they couldn't help but envy their classmates' carefree existence, untouched by greed, simply enjoying time with friends, family dinners, and outdoor activities like sports or board games. They felt compelled to mature prematurely and secure a livelihood for themselves, unsure of whom they would share it with.
[Name] sighs, acknowledging their tendency to become philosophical and sentimental about their surroundings, realizing they should probably stop accompanying Taiju to church so often. They felt like that if they kept it up, they might wake up one day as a priest or a nun.
They wouldn't admit it, but [Name] sort of misses that carefree feeling, when they didn't have to worry about anything but enjoying their youth. However, all good feelings seem to fade away, and fate often seems to mock themβ at least, that's how it feels in [Name]'s life as a Kokonoi.
The mockery began when a random guy with a large sign started bothering them during lunch while they were reading books that Akane had recommended. He was pressuring them to join the soccer club, suggesting that their physique was lean and athletic enough to participate.
"Please! You've got to join! I've seen you jump during PE, you'll be perfect for soccer!" The brunette kept on insisting as his front row bangs bounce simultaneously to his expressive movements, looking animated as ever.
"You can't just ask around people and kept on insisting when they say no?!" [Name] wanted to take back what they said so badly, realizing how much of a hypocrite they were- as he himself would be this forceful to his underlings when he wanted something, the difference is that this kid over here is passionate and loves what he does, wanting to save something he swore to cherish always.
Three years in my notes and it's still a wip ππ
honestly?? this is adorable and unhinged in the BEST way, I love it.
and the writing itself?? the βforced to mature too early,β the quiet envy of carefree classmates, the church line (LMAO), the internal hypocrisy moment, the earnest soccer kid- LIKE HELLO??? thirteen-year-old you was already building themes.
I'm not that well versed in those anime, but this was such a fun read. I love it!!!
What do you think is the better route to take? Should I be evil and make the DRRM (Disaster Risk Reduction Management) vigilante reader actually be very cherished and loved by the batfam, only to kill them off while they are doing a flash flood rescue in just a one-shot? Or should I be the lesser evil and make it a series instead, but still kill them off at the end? Decisions decisions
How about no killing? How about that? π
Jokes aside, it depends on what you want to show! For example, as a one shot, maybe it's the reader's final moments and she is reminiscing her life with the batfam between flashes of the past and the present. Along with the reactions of the batfam!
As for the series, you got more time to build up their relationships and dynamics individually. Maybe even get more povs of the batfam!
Either way, it's heart wrenching so please don't make me suffer π₯Ήπ
I suddenly had a dream that gave me an amazing platonic batfam x batsis reader idea! So the reader mostly works as the main person for the disaster risk reduction and management for Gotham's vigilante distribution system. So unlike everyone who has the dark color scheme. Their suit is base white and has reflective neons, they also blast a siren to alert people they're near, they also have flashy tech that screams "IM RIGHT HERE!!" So civilians can easily spot them and ask for help during typhoons, earthquakes, or flash floods. It would be very funny if the bats try tagging the reader along to a stealth mission and suddenly the rest aren't so shadow-y and mysterious because the reader's radio is blaring some hyperpop music and they are shining like a walking disco/traffic light. The poetic part about the dream I had is that reader and Damian are half siblings, and while the other was raised to kill, the other was raised to save- then they went to the opposite paths π. And I think putting the reader, Duke, and any of the green lanterns or star sapphires in a room together would feel like the strongest and most eye-soring flashbang of your life because they all had something to do with light πThis can work as an oc as well.
OH?? THAT'S SO GOOD?? Like i can see it so vividly π the contrast between the batsβ whole βcreature of the nightβ vibe and this literal walking emergency beacon is something that I am obsessed with and I LOVE IT!!
And the symbolism of raised to kill vs. raised to save between them and damian?? My heart is in piecesπ like two sides of the same coin but in totally different palettes (SOOOOOBBB)
Also yes, putting them, duke, or a green lantern or star sapphire in the same room would 100% look like someone just dropped a flashbang in the watchtower LMAO
It could totally work as an OC too!! i love when designs flip the usual bat aesthetic and still fit the world somehowππ
DRRM Reader because they don't have any missions for five hundred years now so they just do side quests while waiting to be called for a task: ππ
GG GG GG I had the funniest dream ever.
In my dream, I obtained a new comic, and I am so excited because it's Bernard Dowd and Idk the girl (she's faceless) having their own comic, and coincidentally the two of them are Tim and Damian's lovers and they get along, unlike the brothers they're dating. So basically it's Resident Bernard and OJT/Intern Girl, and they work at a hospital. And their whole run is just them getting into the craziest situations because there's some BS going on in the hospital.
I think it went to that setting because I'm currently hyperfixating Animal Hospital in Roblox, where it's a mix of That's not my Neighbor and a Hospital simulation but the usual anomalies you had to face is the Head Bangers that will bang their heads at the reception window, the bed monsters that would pull you from under the bed. There's Skin walkers, freaky body contorting anomalies, there's anomalies that's all mass of eyes and flesh that would stare at you, there's a stalker, there's a lot going on bro. Sometimes, if you don't have weapons, you'd have to jump the anomalies yourself and just beat the shi out of them, but it would cost you a lot of your sanity. Literally. Because another factor of the game is you have to manage your sanity or you'd lose.
They just kept on screaming at each other like, "WTF IS THAT SHI!!!! IT JUST TWISTED ITS BODY" and they'd have to fight off the anomalies with just a taser, a fire extinguisher, and if they are lucky, there's occasional guns. And every five panels or so, they'd sob and complain with each other, "I didn't get into this job to deal with this shi, my bf is literally rich, I shouldn't be doing this." And there's a mechanic in the game that if a patient faints, you can just shove their body inside the trash so it won't count as a death, because three patient deaths is a game over. And typically, a run would have 4 players max, so them being the only doctors there make sense. They have to manage the whole ahh hospital by themselves because the two senior doctors ARE NOT HELPING
To give you context, this is the usual chaos they have to deal with: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSCXWrf5s/
Might write it because it's so funny for me
I'd absolutely read this!! The premise is so ridiculous in the best way because it's not trying to be some grand superhero story, just two exhausted hospital workers trying to survive the world's worst shift (THE PITT???)
Bernard and Intern Girl dating Tim and Damian makes it even funnier. Tim and Damian are out there dealing with supervillains, assassins, and conspiracies, while their partners are texting them things like: 'Can't talk right now, the bed tried to eat a patient-' LMAOOOOO
I can just picture Bernard hiding behind the reception desk while some nightmare creature crawls across the ceiling, having a full-on existential crisis. Meanwhile the senior doctors are absolutely useless. The entire hospital is falling apart, there's screaming every five minutes, something is banging its head against the reception window, and they're just sitting in the break room drinking coffee like: 'The interns have it handled'. The best part is that after a few months they become completely desensitized.
At some point Tim and Damian would finally visit the hospital expecting to rescue their partners, only to discover Bernard and Intern Girl are somehow thriving in absolute chaos. They'd be horrified watching them casually beat an eldritch monster with a fire extinguisher before immediately going back to checking a patient's vitals like nothing happened I'M CRYINNNNNGGG
Bonus points if the Joker or any Gotham Rogue tries to use the hospital as the site of their operations and the two of them are just tired of everyone's BS so they just use the Glock against them

Maranatha touching her roots by wearing a Precolonial Filipino attire. (For the last time, stop wearing gold in public, Mara π)
Hot take: But Jason's other runs where he is more "magically" inclined is honestly so cool and underused. You want him to be a black sheep type of son? Let him keep his magic because Bruce refuses to use it and makes a good bonus for him trying to distance from Jason! Jason already had the thing going for him with the magical swords that he was worthy of wielding and the newer writers don't even mention it. Why am I even ranting this to you GG, (I do know why, I have no one to yap about this)
I saw a lot of people complain about his comics and how they are bland or the generic misunderstood sob type shi and it's not even that because he COULD have good runs. And his fans don't even do much, like they just loveeee making it seem like Bruce is the clone of Satan himself. When actually, both sides have good pointsβJason is right that there's people who can't be redeemed and letting them stay would make the damage those people do get worse, but Bruce is right with the whole every human life is sacred and they don't have the right to act like judges especially if Bruce knows in some way that he doesn't have the right to make an ultimatum because he doesn't understand or know what exactly is that criminal is going through.β Moreover, Bruce actually has some right scolding Jason, there are things that Jason did that are out of pocket and he wants to point them out, but Jason's fans make it seem like he's sooo innocent. At some point the debate from Jason fans side is turning concerning-ly sounding fascist.
Now onto my main point because I realized I went over what I should be talking about, sorry.
Why am I mentioning his magical girl abilities? It's because I think it would seem like a fresh perspective if Jason deals with paranormal and eldritch horror type shi. Not only can he relate to the undead, it gives him exposure therapy as well(I know that's diabolical to do but...)! And out of all Robins besides Damian, he believes in sorcery and magic as well! It would be nice if I can see a run of his where he tries to undo all of Gotham's curses and maybe have a duo with Duke. Both can see paranormal shi and are more likely to relate with similar origins in the streets, kids from the most marginalized communities and all that (I sound like a classist, I'm sorry ππ)
For context because this shi is canon but unfortunately underused or barely mentioned, Gotham is cursed with all types of freaky shi, like a Demon Bat sealed under the city and it causes the attraction of everything corrupt, this also makes Gotham sentient in a way because it's built over all these curses. So in some way, Bruce's efforts as Batman are actually in vain in a way, imagine wanting to do good thinking it will get better but because the whole city is cursed, it will be never ending. I'm not saying it's possible to have a 0% crime rate anywhere else in the world, but because of the curse, the whole bat and bird co's efforts don't even make a dent in the whole crime stopping stunts they do because as long as the curses are there, nothing actually changes.
So why Jason and Duke? Mostly Jason. Out of everyone in the family, these two knows Gotham from birth to death. They see it for the whole of it, Dick wasn't born there, Bruce and Tim are sheltered from what truly is going on in the streets until a certain age, Damian especially can't even relate one bit because not only is he not from there, nor raised there, his social status as prince and as an elite makes it difficult for him to fully grasp what exactly should be done for the streets. But Jason and Duke came from the ugliest areas of Gotham, Crime Alley and the Narrows, Top 1 and 2 for most crime ridden areas. The fact both of them were raised there but still came out with the will and hope to help is honestly so beautiful in a way. And a series/run where they return that kindness that they received from the streets by undoing the curse of Gotham is honestly interesting and away from the generic detective, crime fighting, and usual of most Gotham-based comics.
Writing this like I'm getting graded π
Now Iβm mad itβs not a full run already
Jason leaning into the magical/occult side of Gotham is such an underused lane, especially when it fits him . Like, he literally came back wrong. If anyone in the Batfam should have a complicated, almost intimate relationship with death, curses, and whatever is lurking underneath Gotham, itβs HIM. The All-Blades, the whole only works on pure evil concept? Thatβs a strong foundation and they just leave it there??
And tying that into Gotham being inherently cursed, because it reframes Jasonβs anger in a way that isnβt just 'misunderstood angry son' but more like he sees the cycle for what it actually is. Not just crime, but something systemic. Almost supernatural. So of course heβs going to question Bruceβs methods if, from his perspective, theyβre treating symptoms and not the source.
As for your point about the fandom flattening the Bruce vs Jason conflict, SO REAAAALLL. Itβs way more compelling when both of them are right and wrong at the same time. Jason has crossed lines, and Bruce is operating from a moral code that isnβt as universally applicable as he thinks. That tension is the story, not picking a 'correct' side.
And Jason and Duke? That EATS (I finally got to sit down and read a few of Duke's comics and MY GOD WHY DIDN'T I DO IT BEFORE-) Theyβre two of the few who actually understand Gotham from the ground level, not just as an abstract 'city that needs saving' but as something that raised them, hurt them, and shaped them. Having them deal with the curse of Gotham instead of just its crime feels like such a natural progression. Duke already has that meta-awareness with his powers, and Jason brings that edge, lived experience and willingness to go places the others wonβt.
Also I love the idea that for Jason, this becomes less about control and more about undoing something. Breaking cycles instead of just punishing people caught in them. It gives him a direction that isnβt just reacting to Bruce all the time.
If you ever write this Iβm reading immediately. You KNOW occult and magic stuff is MY JAAAAMMM
