How to spot an undercover cop at a protest:
be aware, avoid, and stay safe if at all possible! if they’re dressed like that then chances are they’re a cop.
the armband is meant to let other cops, uniformed and under-cover, know this person is also a cop. the color code changes, so it might be white, orange, green, ect. the wristband is a “thin blue line”, and the other guy in the picture has two on both wrists. if you see somebody with something under their shirt, it might just be a binder (or some kind of under-shirt), but if they have other “signs” like the bands and the hidden cuffs, they most likely have a bullet-proof vest on as well. same with the shoes or the hat, on their own it doesn’t always mean something, but several of these things together add up

In 1912 Alfred Wegener proposed a controversial theory about how the Earth’s land masses formed. He said the great continents had once formed a single landmass, which had broken up over time. The idea went against all conventional ideas, and was roundly dismissed.
It took the work of young cartographer Marie Tharp to prove him right.
In 1947, she worked on a team that were running expeditions around the world, mapping the ocean floors with echolocation. However, Marie wasn’t allowed on the missions because women were seen as ‘bad luck’…
But the work she did back at the university was invaluable. Converting endless data into detailed profiles, she realised that the ocean floor isn’t a flat, featureless plane, but a complex, varied landscape.
Most importantly, she spotted a long, V-shaped valley in each of her profiles: a rift valley that supported Wegener’s theory, formed by two land masses moving apart, splitting the ocean floor in two.
But even with this evidence, Tharp’s ideas were dismissed as ‘girl talk’.
She then realised that her profiles tied in with worldwide earthquake maps being developed by a colleague.
The mounting evidence started to convince some sceptics, but not all. Renowned explorer Jacques Cousteau was so unconvinced that he sent an expedition to film the ocean floor and clear things up once and for all. What did his footage show? Exactly what Tharp had predicted.
Tharp’s steadfast determination had paved the way for Wegener’s continental drift theory to gain traction. As the tide of opposition waned, it gave birth to our modern understanding of plate tectonics and secured Tharp’s position as one of the most outstanding cartographers of the 20th century.

Esto me llamo la atención y luego en Netflix descubri que habia una serie de ella, donde va a casas de personas y las ayuda a organizar. Me gusto su método y quise compartir algunos de sus consejos con ustedes. Quien sabe. Siempre se aprende algo 😉
wow! this is perfect! Im totally going to do this and check out this Netflix show! I seriously have too many books and papers, I recently sold some Tolkien books just to get some space.
I highly recommend her show because it’s SO satisfying to watch, her personality is so genuinely sweet, and her advice is dope as HELL.
I like Marie Kondo because I’m so used to all the rhetoric around “decluttering” or “tidying up” being about how it’s somehow immoral to own things and that we need to burn our possessions and all live in sterile minimalist Hell in a plain white apartment with a deck chair and one potted plant.
So I like hearing the tidy lady tell me that yes I should live in a hovel with a bunch of linguistics books and dragon statues and here are some ways to keep the hovel clean and orderly while I lurk in it.
It’s so refreshing.
