it’s a little bit of a vague answer just bc it depends who i’m writing for

eddie munson x alt!fem!reader

summary: with eddies favorite holiday around the corner, he wants to make it even more special by finally working up the courage to ask you out.

warnings: i tried to pack this full of fluff for flufftober. there is a bit of reader description but it’s just the fact that they’re a girl and they have black wavy to curly hair and also reader and eddie are both 20

a/n: im in a halloween mood and i love eddie munson and classic universal monsters ALSO told from eddies pov more or less :3 let’s pretend the universal monster movies were available on vhs in 1986

he swore this was his year. his month, his week, his day even.

he was finally gonna ask you out.

it’s not like he hasn’t tried, he has !! an embarrassing amount of times if you will, but right before he gets the words out he feels his heart skip a beat and he bites his tongue. he wants you so bad, it doesn’t even feel human at this point.

now that it was the season of witches and ghosts and pumpkins he sees all the couples going to pumpkin patches and planning their stupid matching costumes, he hates costumes but if his was matching with yours he supposed he wouldn’t mind them. and what he wouldn’t do to do your already made halloween plans but as a couple. your forever long halloween movie marathons but if you were dating he can finally kiss you instead of stealing longing glances at you instead of paying attention to the movie. your trips around local haunted houses but if you were dating he could finally hold your hand while walking through them.

he was currently pacing around his trailer making sure everything was perfect, he was never like this, tonight was just one of your guys’ weekly halloween movie marathons and you guys were gonna binge the old monster movies. specifically, dracula, frankenstein, bride of frankenstein, and creature from the black lagoon. of course you had to pick the ones with even the slightest bit of romantic undertones, he could tell this night was either gonna be torture or the best night of his life.

eddies cut off from his pacing by wayne coming in through the kitchen about to leave for work

“eddie” his uncle says

“no yeah im good it’s all fine” eddie says, making it obvious the everything was indeed not fine.

“eddie, you’re working yourself up over nothing”

“nothing ?? you’re joking right ?? wayne, this is the biggest deal of my life. this is the girl of my dreams and everything needs to go perfectly”

“you’ve known her since you guys were babies and i’ve seen the way she looks at you, she’s as in love with you as you are with her”

eddie just responds with a nervous sigh

“kid, you’re fine.” wayne says, putting a reassuring hand on his nephews shoulder.

“yeah, yeah i know” eddie responds with a small nod though still looking nervous as all hell.

“alright i’m heading out” wayne says grabbing his things

“okay i’ll see you later”

“night”

as soon as wayne is out the door eddie begins pacing again, you weren’t even getting to his trailer for another two hours but damn if it didn’t feel like you were already walking through the door. he was scared, and not the good kind.

after an agonizing long wait, you had called him to tell him you were on your way and not long after that you were knocking on the trailer door.

“you got this” eddie mumbles to himself before opening the door

“heya” you say with a bright smile and he swears his heart almost stops. you looked amazing and you were only in a hoodie and pajama pants.

“hey” he sighs out

“you alright ??”

he snaps out of it

“yeah no im alright uh- you ready for tonight ??”

you walk into the trailer and immediately make your way to the couch like you’ve lived here for years which, in a way, you kind of have.

“to binge eat junk food and candy while watching my favorite movies with my favorite person like we do every single year ?? obviously” you say as you take a bag of gummi squiggles and pop one in your mouth before patting the spot next to you “come on let’s get this party started”

eddie smiles before sitting down next to you and pressing play on the vhs player and the first film on your guys’ list for the night, frankenstein, began to play.

by the end of the first movie, you guys had gone through two bowls of popcorn and half of your supply of candy and your head was on his shoulder.

he was ready to do it. spill his guts to you. he opens his mouth to speak and then you get up to make another bowl of popcorn and he sighs. not only from the fact that he waited a second too long but also from the feeling of missing your warmth, he steals another glance at you putting a bag of popcorn in the microwave and his heart skips a beat, there was something so domestic about it, you in pajamas with your dark hair up in a bun, some loose curls falling out of it. it’s a normal sight for him but it makes the bats in his stomach erupt with flutters. he thinks you look amazing in your usual gothic get up but this was always a welcome change, he felt closer to you like this. he tears his eyes away and he goes to change the tape to the next film, bride of frankenstein.

you walk back to the couch with the full bowl of popcorn and sit back down as eddie presses play and sits back down and to his enjoyment you lay your head back on his shoulder.

he has a harder time trying to pay attention to this movie as he just wants to blurt out his feelings, throw caution to the wind. he just wants you to be his. he doesn’t think he’s met someone who understands him as much as you do, someone who loves him as much as you do…

he doesn’t even remember the part of the movie you guys were in when he finally mustered up the courage.

“i need to tell you something.”

you look up at him “yeah ??”

“yeah” he says, but doesn’t continue

“i’m listening…” you urge him to finish what he was going to say

“okay so i didn’t think i’d get this far”

“eds, you’ve said like two words”

“god i know, i’m sorry i just- i’m just.. nervous” he mumbles

“nervous ?? eds, it’s me”

“that’s exactly why i’m nervous…”

“what do you mean ??”

eddie sighs in frustration at the fact that he can’t get the words out and runs his hand through his hair before rubbing his hands together as a way to self soothe his anxiety

“i- i like you” he says softly

you can’t even hide the surprised expression that takes over your features, out of everything he could’ve said this was the thing you expected the absolute least.

your silence terrifies him and before he can think his mouth starts running wild.

“it’s okay if you don’t feel the same. i just needed to tell you i- everything we do i just can’t help but imagine it all if we were.. you know. it’s the season, i see the couples dressing up and picking out pumpkins and going through haunted houses and we do most of that stuff already but.. i just wanna hold your hand. even tonight, it’s the same as every year just .. i couldn’t get the thought of being able to kiss you out of my mind. you just- you drive me insane and you’re the only one who’s like me, you’re the only one who likes me, likes the “freak of hawkins” and i just needed you to know how much i liked you too just… in both ways.”

“i like you too.. in both ways” you finally say.

“you- you do ??”

“obviously”

eddie can’t even bite back the smile that makes it’s way to his face, grinning from ear to ear

“and you know i don’t care that you’re a “freak” cause i’m one too. so let’s just be weird together.”

eddie feels himself fall more in love with you from that last statement alone.

“can i kiss you ??” he blurts out “i didn’t mean to lead with that”

you chuckle “well go ahead”

he doesn’t need to be told twice and leans in and presses his lips to yours, his hand coming up to cup the back of your head, as the movie ends.

a/n: shorter than i wanted and kinda sucks but i couldn’t get it out of my head. i relate to frankenstein so much because i too am hated for being different and also have a fear of being alone and the thought of eddie relating to these monsters because they’re considered outcasts as well had me so sad but also wanted to write something combining the two in a way..
