In case it seems like every third comic has Batman in it... you're not wrong. He's been in 38.6% of DC issues since 2020, with a stark increase if 8% each decade since the 90s and surpassing Superman in popularity. Despite this, there's been a massive drop off of comics where he is teamed up with Superman or a Robin (although the amount of group team ups between Batman Family members has increased, as well as Nightwing solos).
This was the first thing I thought of when I saw these graphs, lol.
(I love these deep dives into dc and dc fandom data! They are always fascinating to see! Keep up the good work!)
aksjdfhaksdfjhlakj you know i actually did once calculate the trend in how many batman reboots there are based on this tweet:
I wanted to include more reboots though so this was my list:
Some inital graphs for context:
^ these are it in the style of the OG reboot where the x axis is the reboot number (not reboot year). On the left it is scaled the same as the original (by 5), and the right has it scaled where the reboots take up the same amount of the graph as the OG.
Now, if you use a polynomial trendline and make the x axis the year of each reboot, you get two different results:
^ you can have 1 reboot every 52 days on Feb 11, 2032.
But I don't like seeing "52", "Batman" and "Reboot" in the same sentence so if you remove the Arkham Games and DC: Rebirth reboots (bc honestly do they count), you instead get:
an infinite amount of Batman reboots on the Ides of March, 2031. Which is a lot more fun.
Local Vigilante Won't Stay Out of Anyone's Fucking Business
He’s in so many people’s business that it’s a problem even when he’s not there. There are 45 active DC publications and less than half of them aren’t about him, his family, his rogues. When you include other runs where he’s had some sort of cameo in the past 5 issues? It brings the non-bat series down to only 31.1% (which includes non hero comics like Mad Magazine and Scooby-Doo)
He is fucking everywhere
