Today I learned that the creator of “Widow’s Bay” was The Babadook meme girl
WIDOW'S BAY 1.05 "What To Expect On Your Trip"
should be shown at every DMV when you get your licence
Always a reblog.
You learn the basics of this at least when you get forklift certified, but this video is a great demonstration!
this is one of my favorite reddit posts of all time
God forbid Chippy do anything
You absolutely must unmute this video.

Recipes from Portland's famous but long-closed Rheinlander restaurant. This cookbook was produced in a limited window before Chef Mager's death. All of these fucking slap.
For my fellow vegan/vegetarians, these sound scrumptious and look pretty simple to make substitutions!
just to be clear
certified soup post
It's sooo good
The lentil soup post is yeah beyond amazing. I know lentil soup doesn't seem like it could be that good. You simply don't Know how beloved the rheinlander lentil soup was. This was a famous soup here.
In Prince's funky name, amen.
Millennial here. All the above and:
Please send me the training or tutorial in a written format with maybe some screenshots if necessary. I don't want a video tutorial. I don't want to waste time trying to scroll to the exact moment in the instructions that I need and then have to pause and replay it because I missed the .01 seconds of actually relevant information.
Please. Text. Maybe some images for clarification. I can read. I promise.
Skimmable, SEARCHABLE instructions. If they're long, there should be a hyperlinked table of contents.
Elder Millennial here cosigning HARD
If you really need to show a movement, embed a gif or 15-scond-or-less video in the text, like Jod intended.
I work in science communications and I am constantly hearing about how we need to try to do video to appeal to the newest generation of scientists and it's like do you think physicists who can't read are a good idea?
Gen z and please just give me text!
This. All of this. AH PLEASE GOD NO MORE INTERMINABLE TUTORIALS THAT TURN OUT TO BE NOT NEARLY ENOUGH ABOUT THE SUBJECT BUT ALL ABOUT THE TUBER IN LOVE WITH THE SOUND OF THEIR OWN VOICE.
Just write a damn article and stick in a few screenshots or whatever where necessary.
...FFS.
A written tutorial is required for regulatory work and we still get companies trying to sell software that only offers videos (and the now obligatory chat bot that refers to video tutorials...)
My dual learning style millennial butt needs to be able to READ ALONG with any spoken instructions (and ideally make handwritten notes) otherwise The Thing will not be absorbed (which is why I am SO terrible about name retention)
Emphasising this line from cinemaocd above because it really nails it: do you think physicists who can't read are a good idea?
All of this!
the video format is very powerful! watching the thing be done is an ancient form of learning, and it's cool that we no longer have to actually know someone who can do the thing to access that kind of information.
although it's a damn rare tutorial video that's shot well enough to be anywhere near as useful as Actually Being There. but still! it's good! a modern convenience!
i would still always like text also. ideally a diagram.
Part of the thing about video is that you can just do the thing, you don't have to think about how to explain it. This is why most video tutorials aren't great. They're just a single static view of someone doing something. A good video tutorial, that's structured in a way to EXPLAIN.
Anyway I still prefer text, but if you must do video please for the love of the world, give me multiple angles.
vomits

Depictions of the Beast pre-Disney are so funny to me because illustrations range from Curious George...
...to a giant rat...
...to a warthog with rizz...
...to some sort of scaly gremlin creature...
...to a kindly gentle bear.
Disney really perfected this aspect of the fairy tale.
Find more info, and credits of all of the paintings/illustrations here:
Bruh don't even get me STARTED on depictions of him in theatre. Here are two of my favorites! The Disney Broadway costumes in my humble opinion are solidly meh. A little dated, but still fun. I figured I'd drop puppets here instead.
"Beauty and the Beast" (Chichester Featival Theater, 2017, Puppet Designer: Nick Barnes)
"Beauty and the Beast" (Synetic Theatre, 2023, Puppet Designer: Zana Gankhuyag)
And an honorable mention to the 2022 Beast Puppet from the Disney 30th anniversary celebration production bc it is a cool puppet, I just think he looks wayy too goofy and tbh feels too much like Nick Barnes' design.
La belle et la Bete dir. Jean Cocteau 1946
I do know that there is another version from czechia? Sorry my brain can't find it right now. Where the beast is more bird like
Here's Your Answer Right Here. ;)
The Czechoslovakia Adaptation is called, "Panna a Netvor" (aka "Virgin & the Monster").
Technically The Most Aesthetically "Beauty and the Beast" version right after "La Belle Et La Bete".
Co-signing both of these tags from @girl-mercury:
adding some other pre-disney beasts I think are cool

STORYTIME. Last February, I sold a mug on Etsy. Common occurrence. Great. After it arrived at its new home, I got an email from the woman who bought it. She thanked me for the beautiful piece and remarked that the handle was perfect—she struggles with arthritis and finds many mugs difficult to hold. I was so touched!
Fast forward to six weeks ago—I receive an email from her husband, explaining he broke the mug (lol) and asking if I’d be willing to take on a commission to replace it. He reiterates how she has arthritis but also shares she used to make pottery, herself, but can only really paint, now. I say of course! Come to find out, he wants a WHOLE SET of mugs to replace the broken one. Even better! I end up making the whole set twice (I wasn’t satisfied with the first attempt), but finally get them packed up and sent off across the country.
I just received the kindest message from the husband, saying “It is not often in today's world that someone does 100% of what they have promised,” thanking me profusely, and sharing that his wife is already happily using the new mugs.
Anyway, I guess the point is that making art is hard. And commissions always cause me a lot of undue stress, but things like this remind me why I love creating and connecting with people. 💙
prev u wanted to see the handles i did too i found the pic on her etsy! stunning mugs
