I forgot to take screenshots (pic from the mission wiki), but this guy from the quest 'In The Eternal Fire's Shadow' made me think of another au for Desmond in the Witcherverse all because he said something about leaving the Eternal Fire Church and doing good without it and maybe finding his own flame...
So now that flame is Desmond! He doesn't have a name so I figured Zbigniew (Derived from the Slavic elements jĭzbyti "to dispel" and gněvŭ "anger". This was the name of a 12th-century duke of Poland according to Behind the Name) would be kinda neat.
Desmond died in canon with his body burning, BUT that was his human vessel/prison that was made by the Isu who could not have a Cipher without him. Once he "died" he became free, but those new memories are very disorienting so when he reforms in his prev universe in his previous avian form he kinda gets eaten by a monster. He is a Phoenix with the most recent impression of himself being Desmond so when he is eaten he bursts into flames, incinerates the monster, and some of the surrounding forest/swampland.
The explosion can be felt and seen from miles away. In one bandit camp turned shelter for refugees and injured, Zbigniew makes preparations to help any who were caught in the blast. He leaves someone in charge and takes the handful of volunteers and a wagon where they find a naked man in the center of the crater. He is is locked over for injuries before being wrapped in a blanket and being placed into the wagon. An argument is made on leaving the naked man that survived the crater because nothing good will come about, but Zbigniew won't refuse aid to anyone so they make their way back.
Desmond waking up with slight amnesia as the memories try to settle again, falls for the nice guy taking care of him (Zbigniew) and rediscovers his fighting skills when some bandits try to reclaim the shelter for the salt mines. A monster like a migrating Royal Wyvern shows up, or and when Zbigniew tries to distract it while people run Desmond instinctively uses his phoenix flames to heal him from the poison and kill the monster.
The alternative is Desmond diving and taking a lethal hit, bursting int flame, and reforming sturdier to beat the monster. This becomes the 'miracle' that would stand against the Eternal Fire because Desmond has learned about those guys and does not approve. People would then see him as the messiah sent to them because the church has strayed too far from the path that would then become the founding miracle the reformed church rallies behind despite Desmond shooing them away.
A third option that can go with either potential plot bunnies is Desmond becoming a counter for the Wild Hunt. Once he gets used to his powers he could sense when they visit the continent, teleport himself to them through his flames or any flames nearby if he is in his learning stage, and then he kicks their asses. He would rather stay in the shelter with his ex priest (keeping the area free of monsters and selling their parts for money to keep funding the shelter), but it's an end of the world problem so Desmond has to get involved.

Assassin's Creed has this wonderful scifi conceit of traveling back into the genetic memories of your ancestors in order to uncover secrets, and largely wastes it. The more recent games have the modern world as largely an afterthought, and the series-level writing on this game is not good, mostly because it's meant to be an eternal franchise that never has any kind of conclusion, so can only spin its wheels and occasionally have a reveal that doesn't make sense and will surely have no further impact on the series. And the conceit is also at odds with the open world collectathon hyperactive distraction gameplay, failing to leverage the idea that this is what the ancestor character actually did, or that you're trying to be "in sync" with them.
Anyway, my dream Assassin's Creed game goes against every principle they must be working under to make such disappointing, buggy slopfests. And my desire for storytelling goes against the (weak) exploration the series has become so preoccupied with. And some of the things I want, like a proper modern day storyline that you spend actual time in, would probably not be budget-friendly because of the assets that you wouldn't be able to reuse.
But how cool would it be to switch between medieval Berlin, modern Berlin, and Cold War Berlin? To weave different interlocking stories together? To trace the past with the tool of the Animus? To have storylines that comment on each other both directly and through contrast? And one of the things that I don't recall the games ever doing is that you can have a conflict between past and present, where the person using the Animus hates the person they're trying sync with. You have to relive your grandfather's sins to get the information you need, and then his memories and personality start bleeding through, altering you. Think of the tension inherent in having to play out the memory of your ancestor killing someone you've come to like.
Absolutely no way Ubisoft ever does anything interesting with the franchise, sadly.

Desmond waking up post ac3 naked in a cage. The guy next to him is worst off with a bandage around his eye and heavy shackles binding his arms behind his back. The rest of the people in cages are not as bad, but neither do they look good.
Closing his eyes he activates eagle vision only to gasp at the new changes in his sight. He can see the small island they currently inhabit along with the men guarding them as the goods. Most worrying of all is the dim blue shape beside him. His vision lets him see everyone's pulse and his only potential ally has the slowest heartbeat he's seen. It might also be the first he sees stop if Desmond doesn't find a way out.
Escape, right. He focuses on the closest red figure. There are some wisps of thread round him that Desmond wonders about. He mentally tugs one and the guy freezes for one heart stopping second before taking purposefully steps in his direction.
Desmond has no time to marvel at the convenience. He sprawls his body in what he hopes looks worrisome. The lock on the reinforced door clicks just as he holds his breath. His stillness is convincing enough as the brigand makes a beeline towards Desmond's cage.
"Faking ain't gonna save you." The brigand's voice comes from the side of his cage.
"Oi, quit messin around." A kick rattles the cage but Desmond remains unnaturally still.
He can sense the man's mounting panic as the cage continues to rattle as he remains still. "Fuck. Fuck!" The guys paces as he whispers about another one of his dying.
His cage is opened up and that's the chance Desmond needed. The guys eyes widen as Desmond punches his throat. He steps out of the cage as if there was no rush. Really there isn't since Desmond knows the others are sitting around a toasty looking fire. He drags his sight back to the guy clutching at his throat.
The audacity.
This guy is wearing his shoes with the laces tied up in impossible looking knots... wearing no socks.
Desmond knocks him out with the force behind his hit. He was pissed at them for stealing his shit and he knows whatever isn't on the island he will have to track down somehow.
He reclaims his shoes, undresses the guy, and throws him into the cage he woke up. See how he likes it.
He is quick to find more of his stuff, knock the guys out, and drag them back to his now cramped cage. The collection of stuff is random. Weapons, grilled chicken, and a suspicious looking substance that burns his nose at a cautionary sniff.
Raiding the supplies is more useful. He drags the crate with him and begins passing out food and opening some cages. Anyone red stays where they are. His buddy drinks water unassisted aside from being held up. Hand feeding him bits of bread gets the briefest of blinks and a whispered lamb, startling him with the intensity of the color. It's kinda mesmerizing.
Damn, this is not the time for Desmond to begin developing a crush all because of a pretty eye. Focus. The cloth thrown onto his face almost makes him want to hurl, but he boils the water the best he can and uses the limited healing supplies to tend to his wound. Desmond sings softly to try and ease some of his pain as he cleanse the wounds and stitches it as neatly as he can.
He spends the night caring for the guy while the others continue passing food around. When the goons wake up he ignores them. Some of the women hit them through the bars with anguished screams. The kind that will haunt him once they are somewhere safe but for now they focus on gaining their strength. Live long enough to reach land and the rest comes easier.
That's shared thought is what keeps them all going, and when his ally is lucid enough to stay awake, he promises to take them all to shore. He doesn't know the way but his eye is more than just mesmerizing *slow blink*
Yew branches style Desmond is Aiden you say 👀 I am considering but the brain juice is dry rn, maybe once it marinate there might be something my brain comes up with 🤔
I know the game has another quest that starts in Skellige where you find out Jad is a human trafficker, but mostly this deabble came up because I started looking for the Witcher gear and the cat school quest took me to the little cluster of mini islands by the lighthouse and I thought this was a good location for Desmond to arrive and rescue Aiden since Geralt and Lambert are sorta nearby so they can miss eachother while traveling. Lambert simmering in rage at someone using Aiden's name and probably his gear to pass themselves off as a witcher. They haunt Karadin's haunts and business locations so he is ready to tear them apart until he finds it actually is Aiden. Desmond looking like a racoon in the background as he is digging for the last of his stuff trying to sink into the shadows 😂
But here is the map that you reminded me about

Desmond in Altaïr’s time
So with the tsundere!Altaïr art (au?) Desmond did the whole travel back in time thing, and his age equals Altaïr’s.
It’s suppose to be before they go after the apple in canon. Probably closer to Altaïr about to be a master.
Desmond very purposely acts like a mediocre assassin to avoid too much suspicion. Think closer to rank 11th or 12th on the worst novice list.
But because of this, when he skips out on drills or training, no one tattles on him because they would have to admit that this “hopeless excuse for a novice” was consistently outsmarting them. Instead Desmond is more like the local tomcat of Masyaf.
He could be found doing one of three things.
1. Aimlessly roaming the lower village or walls.
2. Watching birds with such an intensity that one has to wonder if he plans to eat it.
Or 3, finding a really high spot and napping in the sun.
He isn’t trusted with important missions and when paired with another brother they will complain that he rarely takes anything seriously, but somehow the missions he is on are always completed with little to no hiccups and his partners alway returns with minimal damage, if any.
Altaïr is one of the ones that gets annoyed with him the most (possibly because Desmond can and will push his buttons on purpose). He is also the one to hunt him down the most, because, unlike everyone else, his pride will not let Desmond win. He ends up seeing Kadar do a move he had never seen before during training and after asking him where he had learned it, Kadar accidentally spills that it was Desmond.
(He cannot not be blamed. Altaïr had come up and told him he did well and Kadar was on cloud nine allowing for the moment of weakness. “Oh! Well Desmond taught m-…oops”)
Now that Altaïr knows he starts hounding Desmond more and even pushes to be put on a mission with him.

Desmond as another golden dragon in the Witcher post ac3. He doesnt realize he can transform until Jaskier bumps into his nest and tells him he is in no mood to hurt his neck so if you dont go back to two legs I will be ignoring you no matter what your guards say.
Desmond focusing gets smaller instead of turning human and thats when Jaskier realizes that that's not Borche. "Oh no. This is not good." He begins pacing and asking Desmond why he isn't talking like other dragons and attempts to coach him through speech. It gets him a soot covered face but they settle on a rudimentary system for yes or no.
Jaskier wondering if he should leave him and come back but Desmond refuses now that he knows at least 1 person that won't hunt him.
This was supposed to be for AC day but it did not feel like cooperating with me.
Please apply hugs generously to Desmond, he needs them

having Feels about the very sad fate of one Desmond Miles again
(via @leblogreblog )
Juno realizing the eternity she craves cannot be found in her universe. Humans have become hardy but they are short lived and in the event she creates another body, she will live in fear of another solar flare.
She hides her time manipulating events beyond Minerva's sight and sets her own sights elsewhere. She finds a world with a banquet of bodies for her to guide until a perfect vessel can be created. She grapes victory with the tips of her fingers before her vessel is stolen.
Constantine has been working on a case. Some invasive deity masquerading as a goddess has taken over a corner of hell, and not too many people are happy about it. What's worse is the vessel's all prepped and ready. There is no stopping somebody getting into it so Constantine overtakes the ritual and summons the sacrifice tied to her and wish they weren't the crazy devoted kind. Nobody else would be compatible with her vessel so that's literally the only other option they have against world domination in not just this plane.
Desmond wakes up in a new body and sees Juno's hologram freaking out. She freaked out the one time Desmond joked about letting the world burn, but this is a different kind of freak out. She isn't even ranting at Desmond, she's ranting at a trashcan. A trashcan who's lid opens up to reveal a man in a trench coat.
A man who pulls out a flask and takes a few swings before seeing Desmond awake. "You look like you need a swig, have at it luv."
Desmond takes a swig and he also takes a hold of the man's hand. Anyone who could get Juno that pissed must be amazing.
Constantine is very interested in helping this new god get acquainted with his new body and that's how he gets an op boyfriend who learns how to use his powers and keep his soul safe 😌

extremely good choice of Liberation’s, i think, to make sure that nearly every scene set at aveline’s home makes sure to have one of her father’s slaves also in view. it makes every scene of her bonding with him wildly discordant and uncomfortable, as it should be.
sorry, i’m playing this alongside replaying syndicate, the game that can barely even bring itself to criticize the goddamn british empire, so i am just very aware right now how easily they could have not confronted that dissonance—handwave it or leave it to a fact in his database entry. but the game doesn’t do that. aveline’s father owns people. aveline’s father loves and dotes on her and seems like a very nice guy. he also owns people. he owned her mother. aveline’s free because he made an exception. stomach-turning thing you just have to sit with every time they’re in her house talking, because you can always see someone standing in plain view that he owns. the game will not let you forget it.

Desmond lives again!
He did it, he saved the world. It cost him his arm, but after expecting to die, he thinks he got off easy. He woke up in the hospital, his sister and friends there, and he got the good news. After getting discharged, spirits were high but… That’s all he remembers. Like a record skip, suddenly he was somewhere else, his friends, sister, and dad no where to be seen. His cellphone isn’t working either, so he wanders. He’s quickly approached by a self identified Assassin and taken to his team, but somethings wrong. They’re noticeably older. His baby sister looks like she could be older than him actually. Shaun and Rebecca sport wrinkles now, still subtle, but not when moments—days??—earlier they were so young. They act strange too, they’re hiding their distraught faces, they stare like they’ve seen a ghost, and they keep stepping aside to talk without him. Finally they explain, Desmond is dead and the world is still going to end. But he’s here, how? That’s what they have to figure out. Oh and save the world too… Again.
happy birthday ezio
