~MADALOS~

You used to fear fire. As a child, you’d avoid it and taught not to light matches or even get within a foot of the flames. You’d were told the horror stories of what the flames could bring during fire safety week at school. And told to stop drop and roll if a fire ever occurred. And yet, against your better judgment, you’d fallen in love with a man who could literally erupt into flames.

You knew the name Storm fit Johnny well. He was an oncoming storm. Unpredictable, rash, and passionate. Yet, he was also caring, considerate, and respectful. It didn’t take long for you to be drawn to him. Like a moth to a flame, you were all over him. However, unlike a moth to a flame, you knew you wouldn’t mind if his heat consumed you, so you weren’t startled when he burned you accidentally. Johnny, however, had a much different reaction.

“HOLY SHIT!!!” He’d screamed as he pulled away from your face.

The two of you had been in an extremely passionate make-out session and with each second the temperature rose from Johnny’s body heat. You were used to the heat that only Johnny could produce. Yet it seemed that he’d miscalculated how hot he was getting, which is how he’d accidentally caused the skin on your cheek to blister with the clear indent of his lips upon your cheek. Similar to how a lipstick-stained kiss would be pressed upon a cheek.

“Oh my god! Oh my fucking god!” He shouted.

Johnny examined your cheek. His face flushed as he pulled away. In a hurry, he then rushed to retrieve the silver cream located inside his bedside table. In a hasty motion, he began to apply the cream upon your face. Tears began to well up in his eyes, while you sat there on the bed motionlessly. Your catatonic state only made Johnny more freaked out. Once he was finished his blue eyes scanned your face and he cupped your cheeks forcing you to look up at him.

"Please, baby. Say something. You know I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm not like that." Johnny plead. You came back to your senses and rested your head against Johnny's. With a sigh, you whispered.

“Can you take me to the mirror?”

Johnny nodded his head and lifted you into his arms. He carried you to where your vanity stood and with shaky legs he set you onto the chair of your vanity. Your eyes were closed. You were scared to see what it had looked like. Sure, you could never hate Johnny and you knew he'd never hurt you on purpose. But you still did care about your appearance. Even if it was a vain thing to admit.

You opened your eyes slowly and examined yourself in the mirror. It was clear that he had got you. Death by kisses it seemed. You got closer to the mirror and examined the burn closely. It dawns on you quickly that you found it beautiful. It was a perfect indentation of Johnny's lips against your skin. You could see each line that was on Johnny's lips. Every curve that made his lips his. His cupid bow lips looked beautiful as it was tattooed upon your skin. It made you love him even more.

You didn't realize that you were tearing up until Johnny wiped your tears. With sad eyes, he whispered. "You should leave me. I'm just gonna hurt you. I can't control my powers."

"Johnny! I'm not crying because of the burn. I'm crying because it's beautiful."

His eyebrows knit together in confusion. Slowly Johnny sank to the ground and knelt before you. You shifted your chair so that you were now directly in front of him. With a small smile, you guided his hands toward your burnt kiss.

"I think it's beautiful. It's your lips marked perfect against my skin. It's your love marked perfectly for me. I've never seen anything more beautiful."

Johnny scanned that mark. He no longer had tears in his eyes. But his eyes were red from crying. You couldn't help but want to calm him. You put your held his hand and gently said.

"I'm not going to leave you. You could burn me to a crisp and I'd still be happy to be with you. You're my sweetheart."

"I hope I don't burn you to a crisp. I'd never forgive myself if I did." You leaned forward and kissed his nose.

"Maybe we should bring the heat down then? Or at least have a fire extinguisher near us when we're making out. How's the sound?"

Johnny shrugged his shoulders and sighed. "I just don't wanna hurt you."

"It would hurt me more if we weren't together. I know the risk of dating you. And I'll gladly take them. Want to know why?"

"Why?"

"Because I love you. And when you love someone you make sacrifices. But to be with you I don't feel like I'm sacrificing much. Just a few layers of skin."

Johnny snickered and pulled you to his lap. You wrapped your arms around him and kissed his neck sweetly. He rested his head against yours and held you like that for a while.

It took Johnny a couple of days to trust himself after the burnt kiss. He was deeply upset with himself, but you convinced him that you weren't going anywhere even though he insisted. Eventually, he realized that he'd never be able to get rid of you. Nor did he want to.
