what i'm asking:

if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.

if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.

india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.

i genuinely think that creators should avoid discussing their show for at least a month after the show has finished airing. that doesn't mean they can't engage with the fandom, they can still repost fanarts or cosplays and have meaningful interactions with their fans.

i just think they should let fans draw their own conclusions before going on social media and talking in depth about how you should be viewing a certain character. at that point, you're basically telling your fans exactly how to feel, and discouraging critical thinking.

even worse is when fans use this as a justification to attack anyone who has a different opinion. "you're not allowed to hate this character, the author confirmed they have anxiety!" "you can't headcanon this character as anything because it goes against what the creator said in their deviantart account!"

during the era of TV broadcasting and before social media was such a huge thing, the only time creators could talk about their shows was in interviews and stuff, if they even got those.

and while that probably created problems for them, the good thing was that they had to add any important detail IN CANON, because they couldn't just hop on twitter and be like "oh btw these characters are dating". and they had to be comfortable with their audience drawing different conclusions and having different perspectives of a character or a plot, instead of being told exactly how to feel.
