This is my first time making a post like this.

This is extremely important for me, so please I beg you to take the time to read it!

I was accepted to the University of Applied Sciences of Hannover, in Germany to begin my studies in September. I will be part of the Information Management program. I am beyond happy!!

The only thing that's left to do is prove to German authorities that I will be able to afford living expenses without working or receiving government assistance.

I need to have €10.250 in a German blocked account for this.

For context, I come from an extremely poor family. I live i Paraguay, one of the poorest countries in South America. Living conditions here are truly bad, and with 21 year old I can only work to earn a minimum wage salary. Besides, none of my parents are responsible for ANY of my living expenses so I am completely on my own for this.

Fortunately I've been saving money for this for the past 2 years. However I am still a bit far from reaching my goal. ► “I’m not dating anyone because I want to focus on school and I’m too busy.” -said all through high school and college.

► “I don’t care how someone looks, I care about their personality.” - A common response to: ‘what’s your type??”

► Yeah, literally not having a ‘type’. Never understanding how people have ‘types’.

► “I’ll never have kids I am going to have dogs.”

► Never understanding fuck, marry, kill. Especially other peoples choices in the game.

► Getting really good at saying “Thank you for asking, but I’m just not interested in dating anyone right now.”

► Avoiding sexual conversations at all costs because they are uncomfortable, confusing or truly boring.

► Being a total hopeless romantic and wondering why people are more interested in how hot someone is versus them being kind?? or smart?? or funny?? what their hobbies are?? how they treat their mom??

► Being confused when people will go out of their way, even dangerously so, to please/impress someone they think is hot. Like why? You can see the heartbreak coming a million miles away because what even is sexual attraction.

► The explanation at all family dinners for not having a significant other is that you have more important things to be worrying about right now, LIKE SCHOOL.

► Being completely oblivious to others flirting at you and also not realizing when you might be coming off as flirty because you’re just a nice person and like to hold doors open for people.

► Anytime you find a good new song and then actually listen to the lyrics and sit there like??? What does this mean?

► Wondering why thinking about holding someones hand gives you butterflies in your stomach but if you even try to imagine having sex with them your mind goes blank.

Hey, if you’re ace, that’s chill. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you or that you need to change. Some people just aren’t into people sexually and that’s fine. Be confident in yourself.

There. 

Just then. 

It happened again. 

That was the fifth time. 

The fifth time.

It shouldn't have happened at all. Never. Not once. There was no reasonable explanation. 

It was unfathomable. 

Inexplicable. 

And yet. 

It had happened five times. 

Five times where she'd looked up. 

Five times where her eyes had met his. 

Five times where she'd wanted to look away, but didn't. 

Couldn't. 

Five times where she'd expected him to look away, but he hadn't. 

Wouldn't. 

Five times where their gazes had held. His questioning, challenging. Hers curious but uncertain. 

Five times where his eyes had raked over her, in a way that made her feel exposed, yet appreciated. 

Five times where her skin prickled, blood heated. Where warmth flushed her body and set her alight in a way she couldn't explain yet never wanted to end. 

Five times where the curve of his lips, the light in his eyes, the softness in his features hinted that she might not even have to explain the feeling, because maybe, just maybe, he was feeling exactly the same.

Five times where her nerve, meant to be so sure, so true, Gryffindor that she was, had folded, and she'd broken the connection first. She'd looked down, looked away. Looked to her friends seated at the table in front of her, instead of to him, just beyond. Looked away and wondered what the look had meant and why he hadn't looked away first. 

Five times where Marlene had scolded her, for hadn't she asked for the help in Transfiguration, nay, begged for help in Transfiguration, her only weak subject and the one destined to send her to a life of failed NEWTs and unemployment, to hear her tell her sad tale of woe last evening? Scolded to pay attention, to listen and to learn, or else her friend would leave in a huff and she wouldn't dare be able to ask again. 

She tried her best. 

She really, really did. 

She tried to resist the urge, the temptation. 

She pleaded with herself, with the devil voice inside her, tricking her, tempting her. 

She took dutiful notes, nodding along seriously at her friend's lecture on clothing spells, which would actually be useful if she was ever confidently, competently, able to manage one. 

She did everything she could think of, and then, even more to avoid a sixth time. 

He probably wouldn't even been looking. 

There was no way it would happen again.

It couldn't happen again. 

What did it say about her, about him, about them, if it happened for a sixth time? 

What did it mean? 

What would she do? 

What would he do? 

They were questions she had no idea how to answer, but she reassured herself, she didn't need those answers, because it wouldn't happen again. 

And yet, in a moment of distraction, a split second after she told herself not to, it did.

It happened again.

A sixth time.

Lily's eyes met James’ across the library and she forgot everything else around her, just as she had before. 

Her skin erupted in goosebumps, heat and fire rushing through her veins, her lips tilting into a smile to match his. 

But this time was different. 

Here’s a quick handy reference list or anyone who isn’t sure:

Homosexuality does exist in almost all social species.

“Alpha males” are not a real phenomenon and in fact the most aggressive males tend to be the least reproductively successful.

“Survival of the fittest” simply means that the success of a species hinges on how well it “fits” its environment. It does not mean that stronger or smarter individuals are supposed to succeed. Those things can even be a detriment in nature by wasting too many resources.

“Race” is not a biological concept. Someone who looks different from you has the same human genes, just a different grab-bag of dominant traits.

Evolution is not a march towards higher complexity, more intelligence or even more adaptability. It’s just a fluctuation of characteristics dictated by environmental pressures and mutation. A slime mold isn’t “less evolved” than a hawk, just adapted for success under different parameters.

People didn’t evolve “from apes.” It’s more complicated than that. We are a category of ape, sharing a common ancestor with the other apes.

No human on Earth is “closer” to an evolutionary ancestor than any other. We all descended from the same one.

Neanderthals were also a “sibling” species of ours. We didn’t evolve from them.

Humans are actually more genetically homogeneous than most people suspect. This is possibly due to a population bottleneck at some point in our evolutionary past. Two chimpanzees from different sides of a jungle are likely more genetically different to each other than any two human beings in the world.

Our big brains may help us use tools, but what was really principal in their development was the need for empathy, communication, and cooperation.

Humans. Are. Social. So social it drove an incredibly energetically costly increase in our brain size.  Don’t believe anyone who says its our nature to fight “every man for themself.” We’re humans, not bears. We fight for each other.

And we always have. Fossil remains are found of ancient humans who bore signs of crucial mobility impairments that lived to notable ages. Some even have sticks or other mobility aids – community care and support is our way. We don’t cast off those with impairments, we stand by them.

Human sexual dimorphism is on a decreasing trend. Our ancestors had greater difference in canine size and overall size. Our dimorphism gap has gotten smaller.

Occam’s razor is the principal that whatever is the simplest explanation is probably the most likely one. Don’t believe someone who says the reason we evolved bipedalism is so that males could carry gifts to females to woo them. Yes, this is a real ‘theory’ on how bipedalism evolved.

Skin tone is an adaptation of UV levels vs vitamin D levels. Both come from the sun. UV is harmful, so where sun is plentiful populations develop a darker skin tone for more protection. The skin needs sun to create vitamin D, so where sun is scarce, the skin tone lightens to allow more sun in. This is literally all it is.

Final thing: No one’s mind is really equipped to fully understand how long a billion years is, or a million, or even tens of thousands of years. Evolution takes place over a loooong time. Its very, very, slow, slower than we can really comprehend. We can’t “stand in the way” of natural selection by caring for our ill. We don’t need to “help” evolution in any way. It inevitably happens, but not on any sort of timescale we could possibly affect, so don’t fall for anyone that tells you not to “stand in the way” of natural selection. That’s fascism, and its utterly pseudo-scientific.
