I have many, many beeves with the Silent Hill movies and comics but my biggest one is this weird compulsion Gans/Ciencin/et al have to overexplain in minute detail why Silent Hill is Like That. WE DON'T CARE WHY SILENT HILL IS FUCKED UP! We don't need to know the exact name and origin of the being(s) that fucked it up! We don't need to know how or why they fucked it up! NONE OF THAT IS RELEVANT!Stop trying to make Silent Hill make sense! It doesn't need to make sense! JUST LET SILENT HILL BE A FUCKED UP PLACE WHERE HORRIBLE SHIT HAPPENS AND FOCUS LESS ON THE FUCKED UP-NESS AND MORE ON THE HORRIBLE SHIT HAPPENING IN THE MOMENT!

Everyone is so genuinely nice. Some of them are a little weird. Some of them have to be shooed away from family meal with a broom until everyone else gets to eat because they will clean the whole thing out for themselves, but they generally respond to "hey maybe don't take five pieces of chicken until everyone else gets at least one?" pretty well. We get fed family meal twice a day. TWO FREE AND FUCKING AWESOME MEALS EVERY DAY I WORK PLUS MAYBE A DONUT IN THE MORNING. Do you know how much that saves me on groceries!? Also the afternoon family meal gets served right when I'm usually supposed to clock out... so now I get to pack it up to go, drive five minutes down the road, and sit on the beach to eat fucking incredible food I didn't even have to pay for. It's awesome.

Of course... we have to cook family meals. And now they're starting to make me do it. After a couple of hastily-thrown-together Random Ass Veg Soups and french bread pizzas, I finally formulated Schemes and Plans and yesterday I made chicken shawarma (or as close as I could get without proper lavash wraps or yogurt on hand) and everyone raved about it.

Today, Mother's Day, is one of the hell days in the industry. We did a brunch buffet and we've been prepping all week. I expected to get left in the kitchen to do poolside's burgers and fries and shit. Instead, I got pulled out to carve prime rib and turkey breast for people. The GM introduced me to a bunch of members and his wife and said lots of nice things about me. I've been fighting off some mad impostor syndrome since I started this job but hearing that just got me right in the feels.
