what if i told you there's a book in which a guy somehow gets a scholarship to attend a university for this thing he's good at and ends up joining a small cult-like group of people who do that thing and becomes enamored with the tall dark-haired guy who's best at it and also one member of a set of short blond twins while rejecting advances from the openly gay guy and lying about his background the whole time and dealing with the death of this other guy who was a bigot but probably didn't deserve to be murdered. the best part? i could be talking about either the foxhole court (2013) or the secret history (1992).

i think its so funny when people recommend fics/literature that made them cry. like ah yes you should totally read this Book That Made Me Want To Rip My Veins out. man the Book That Completely Devastated Me is soooo good bro you should totally let it Devastate You as well. and then you read it and it SLAPS so now you simply must tell your friends to also read Book That Made You Go Insane

because wylan grew up an isolated kid i feel like he goes through a phase where he asks kaz to teach him all the kerch childhood games (which kaz takes very seriously) and over time wylan starts accumulating scrapes on his hands and knees, bruises, one day he even comes back with a bloody nose and when jesper asks where he got it from he just starts laughing uncontrollably because for the first time in his life he can say the marks on his body are from memories of pure, unadulterated joy
