Summary: Ray Garraty has- no, had a shit job and an even shittier apartment while Pete McVries has it all.

Ray Garraty is not having a good day.
It started with having to wake Curley for school, which was always a catastrophic event in the Garraty household.
Curley, though he’s young, is a heavy sleeper. It, typically, takes about three minutes to wake the kid and an extra three minutes for him to stop whining about the sun still being hidden. While Curley complains, Ray always takes this time to hunt down clean clothes—usually, they’re in the closet, but Curley didn’t hang the clothes like he was supposed to a few days ago. He’s since piled on his dirty clothes with them, forming a small hill that Ray has to forage through in order to find two socks that aren’t grass stained (one sock has Oscar the Grouch while the other has Tweety Bird).
Ray finds an outfit for the boy and slips it on quickly, mumbling to Curley that he has to get up fully. “I know you’re grumpy, but don’t forget that I get to come see you at school today. Yeah?”
Curley gives a sleepy smile at that. He must feel really good at the thought because he doesn’t fuss when Ray runs a brush through his hair.
It escalated slowly from there.
