And exciting afternoon for my brother here who actually got to go into an office environment outside of his cell block. Itâs always nice to have a little change even if itâs just for a few minutes.

Andrew Jackson Wyrick, West Virginia inmate 3677725, born 1997, incarceration intake May 2024, at age 26, scheduled release date March 2039
DUI causing Death
in April 2024, a judge says a man deliberately got high on THC and marijuana before crashing his car into another vehicle and caused the deaths of a mother and daughter.
âThis was an intentional act. You intentionally got high. You intentionally drove in a manner that cost the lives of two people,â the Judge said before sentencing Andrew Wyrick, 26, to the maximum prison time.
Wyrick, of Culloden (West Virginia), received 3-15 years in prison for each of the two DUI causing death charges he pleaded guilty to earlier.
The crash happened in October 2022 along U.S. Route 60 west of St. Albans and claimed the lives of two people.
The Judge ordered Wyrickâs sentences to be served consecutively.
Wyrickâs defense attorney said the crash was not intentional.
While the defense attorney claimed his client has been remorseful, the Judge didnât buy it.
Two others were injured in the crash. Wyrick was also charged with two counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury, but prosecutors dropped those charges as part of his plea deal.

Rodney William Metzer, Georgia inmate 1002957923, born 1984, incarceration intake August 2021 at age 37, scheduled for release December 2045
Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Sexual Battery, Armed Robbery, Home Invasion, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Crime, Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Eavesdropping and Surveillance
In September 2021, a Georgia man was sentenced to 70 years after attacking his ex- wife while wearing a disguise, then pretending to be her "hero."Â
The Cherokee County District Attorneyâs Office charged Rodney Metzer with 14 different counts related to the New Yearâs Day 2021 attack, including kidnapping, assault, threatening her with a handgun and leaving her bound.Â
Rodney William Metzer, 36, admitted to 14 charges related to an attack on his ex-wife that included kidnapping, assaulting, threatening her with a handgun, and leaving her bound with homemade zip tie handcuffs. Â
The bizarre incident started on New Yearâs Day when Morgan Metzer, who was divorced from Rodney Metzer only a month earlier, woke up to find a masked man standing in her bedroom doorway. The manâs voice was distorted, and he attacked her, beating her with a gun. He then tied Morganâs hands behind her back and put a pillowcase over her head before leaving her on the back deck of the home.Â
Morgan told local media that she could feel the manâs finger on the gunâs trigger and that he strangled her twice.Â
Rodney Metzer claimed to arrive at the home shortly after and found his ex-wife tied up with zip-tie handcuffs. He called the police and attempted to comfort Morgan while they waited.Â
Police did not hesitate to say that something was off about the scene and sequence of events: Rodney Metzer told officers that he had gone to Morganâs home because someone had tapped on his apartment window and yelled her name; more bizarre was that the intruder took only one thing: Morganâs phone.
There is no way in hell that somebody knocks on your window and said her name and you immediately come over here because youâre going to check on her," Sgt. Robert Haugh told Rodney at the scene that night. "And she happens to be bound with a pillowcase over her head by a man whoâs disguising his voice."
Police collected evidence from Rodney Metzer's phone and computer, finding images of Morgan's text messages as well as photos of her in the shower. Officers arrested Rodney Metzer for lying to investigators.
Investigators later found a video of Rodney Metzer at a hardware store buying zip ties that matched the ones used to tie up Morgan. Investigators found the zip ties in his apartment, as well as a gun in his car and a suicide note and forged hospital invoice to trick Morgan into thinking he had cancer.
In the days leading up to this attack he faked a cancer diagnosis in an attempt to gain sympathy from his ex-wife. When that didnât work, he created a convoluted plan that involved a plot to kill her and then himself."
When he couldnât go through with that plan, he instead devised a new plan to rescue her. Sheriffâs office investigators saw through this scheme and quickly arrested the defendant.
