then.Â
i can confirm she made a curious childÂ
Mateo and Sofia Medina were only 23 when they decided to pack up their lives (and their 3 year old daughter) and move to Wrensted from Argentina. Mateoâs twin brother, Tomas, had moved just a year before and they missed each other terribly. The two of them were all the family they had left since their parents passed when they were 15, and even though theyâd been taken in by their longtime neighbor and family friend, things were never quite the same. Besides, Tomas had managed to settle in quickly and had somewhere for their little family to stay, along with a potential job offer lined up for his brother. How could the young parents say no?Â
Eliza grew up not just loved, but cherished, for that was the Medina way. She had her father and uncle wrapped around her little finger from the moment she came into the world, and that didnât change much as she grew older. She was the first (theyâd later come to realize only) baby, and her family loved to indulge her in every aspect they could. Her creativity had shone through early-on and they let her try any hobby that piqued her interest, though she wasnât satisfied until she found the one- photography.Â
Tomas had gotten her a little digital camera for her 9th birthday and Liza began to seldom pop her head out from behind it. Moment after moment was captured and pasted into her scrapbook, nothing was too small. Sofia bought a new dress? It was in her scrapbook. Mateo cooked a particularly tasty dinner? Scrapbook. Tomas brought home yet another new partner? Scrapbook, scrapbook, scrapbook.Â
ever reviled by everyone except her own father, with a quite bewitching faceÂ
It wasnât until the summer before sixth grade that she knew loss. Sofia had found someone else and suddenly she was gone. It came as a shock to them all. Her mother had never shown any dissatisfaction with the life theyâd built. For the first time their little house was filled with silence rather than chatter and music. Eliza hated it, and her mother right along with it.Â
Page after page was torn out of Elizaâs scrapbook, though sheâd never actually gotten the nerve to throw any of them away. She wanted to rid herself of any memory of the woman who raised her, after all Sofia had managed to rid herself of her only child without ever looking back. Eventually, their family healed, though the scar never quite seemed to fade.Â
splendidly selfish, charmingly helpless, excellent fun til' you get to know her. then she runs like it's a race.
Middle and high school passed by in a bit of a blur. Liza floated between friend groups and lovers alike, never being able to be pinned down. Some would call her a free spirit, though what they meant was serial-monogamist. Liza loved love, but inevitably that fear would creep in. The thought that getting too attached could only lead to another heartbreak, another abandonment, and she vowed sheâd never let herself feel that raw again.Â
at first blush, this is fateÂ
Of course, rules are meant to be broken, even if accidentally. It was her senior year of college and Liza hadnât meant to fall so hard. It ended in heartbreak just in time for her to go back to Wrensted, and right into the Empressâ arms.Â
now.Â
hearts are hers for the breaking, thereâs escape in escapingÂ
Amelia had surprised her, lured her in with the idea of true love. Eliza had a major crush on her back in high school, back when sheâd chosen the Emperor instead. She thought she was over it, but time was ticking with the Empress anyway. Eliza was getting too attached and the threat of another major heartbreak was looming, so she jumped.Â
headcanons:Â
Liza has probably had a crush on your character tbh!Â
She has a complex⢠about not wanting to turn into her mother and has a lot of guilt for leaving the Empress for Amelia, but she shoves all of that into a box at the back of her brain and tries not to think about itÂ
Actually, she shoves most negative emotions into that box (itâs overflowing at this point)Â
Lizaâs family owns Soft Spin laundromat/dry cleanerâs. Tomas is the tailor/dry cleaner, Mateo handles the business side, and Lizaâs mom was the seamstress before she left.
wanted connections:Â
ex-lovers of all varietiesÂ
first kiss
first love
and anything else we can think of!Â
