You're a grad student. You're already a semester behind. One of your experimental replicates failed halfway through a 6 week experiment and you didn't notice til you collected the data. You no longer have the statistical power you need and have to start over, with money you don't have and no time. Telling no one and making up some numbers that supports the pattern you can see in the other data is a huge temptation.
And if you succeed at that fraud—because, realistically, no one is going to check—the deadlines don't stop coming and that temptation is always there. You need another grant, you need another publication, another pilot study, on and on and on.
The people who finally get nabbed for scientific fraud, like spider biologist Jonathan Pruitt or the many medical researchers Elisabeth Bik catches, typically were getting away with it for yearsss. I feel like it’s worth talking about how the vast majority of transmasc porn is detrans kink and how trans men are forced to market themselves as “fakebois” or “pussyboys” and do mostly detrans kink content. Please include trans men in these conversations.
Not just detrans kink, but CNC or breeding detrans kink— which carries even heavier implications considering the rates of sexual violence and forced pregnancy that transgender men and transmasculine people are statistically shown to face.
Depictions of marginalized groups in pornography are shaped by perceptions that the privileged groups have over us. Black men are depicted as hypersexual and aggressive, fat people are shoved into feeding/stuffing or unsanitary kinks because they're seen as unclean and overindulgent, trans women and transfeminine people are often painted as tricksters or overly domineering and predatory. Pornography isn't divorced from reality and porn stereotypes towards minority groups reflect real life depictions and interpretations of us. The fact that the stereotype for trans men and transmasculine people is "a soft fakeboy that can be raped and knocked up into detransitioning" should set off alarm bells.
